Z man...give me some details on your SD. Asking/purchase price, miles it had, trim, things to look for, etc.. Been reading a few forums and I'm thinking I may pull the trigger on one here in a week or two and I'd like some sort of reference. Prolly stick with a scab or cc, cuz I haven't been able to find a decent regcab to shorten.

Been looking at a few 2wd's. All the diesels are scabs (150k-200k miles) and the CC's are V10's (100k-120kmiles).

They were asking $14something, I paid $13,7xx. Had 95K on it at the time. It was born as an XLT but had a conversion package done on it so it was basically a Lariat. Things to look for with the 7.3? If it has a K&N airfilter on it, RUN away. I don't care how good of a deal it is, don't buy it if it has a K&N. Other than that, they're very solid trucks. Repairs aren't too hard either. What else would ya like to know?

Why stay away from the V-10? Besides it being thirsty, they're good motors too...

They have low end torque, but comparativly i think i would be just as happy with light towing and daily driving with the 5.4 vs the V10. Budha isnt doing anything crazy heavy towing with his so i would say go 5.4P or 7.3D

I've seen a bunch of 5.4 scabs but the miles are up there with the rest of them and that makes me kinda cautious for that little motor to be in a high milage 250 - granted, the truck could've just been used a people mover but still........

Here's a few I've seen.....not dead set on any of them. Only problm is none are anywhere near me, so I can't just run over and look at them.

99 7.3 f250 - $7900 133k
99 7.3 4x4 $7800 119k
00 v10 scab $7k 123k
00 4x4 v10 CC $7750 137k
00 v10 CC $7900 110k
99 scab 7.3 $7990 165k

And this is all I tow......for now.
