Getting better than ever gas mileage. Last night, cruise set at 70, on the highway, I averaged 24.3 for about 60 miles. Overall average including all the towns, 22.4. With 21,800, the average since the truck was built finally moved off the 19.4 mark and is now at 19.5.

My boss is not too happy with his EB mileage. Just told me he is getting 14.6 running around between small towns and with the cruise set on 75, he is getting 18. I told him to set the cruise at 68 and see what he gets.

His EB should be a little better after it breaks in past 5k miles

5.0 ftw! Your highway mileage is what I see on my Gryphon, yours is a bit better though. I can hold it around 22-24

Jim, tell him to take it easy on the go pedal there is a bit of a learning curve driving a turbo charged truck. Turbo charged vehicles like there fuel if you are into the go pedal all the time and normally get there best fuel mileage if you drive them like you have an egg between your foot and the go pedal.

He may not ever get too much better since he is 4X4, 20" wheels and most likely 3.73s and a 36 gal tank. I need to check the gears. The way it seems to me is the 5.0 gets advertised or better, driving it like I normally do. Not hard, but sprited I guess you might say. Definitely not extra easy. Where the EB seems that you have to baby it to get the advertised numbers, staying out of the turbos. Makes me ask, if mpg is important, and you don't tow often, then why have the turbos?

The boss loves the truck otherwise. Except for filling up. He says that 36 gallon tank is a shocker when you fillup from empty.

Because when you have a load on the truck like a trailer the turbo charged trucks really shine over a naturally aspirated truck. My truck can get 13.5 to 14.5 in town and 18 almost 19 on the highway if I stay out of the go pedal and it's an 8200lbs 4x4 Crew Cab 1 ton. When I'm towing it get's 12 but my truck will out pull gas trucks on grades if I stay in the RPM sweet spot.

I understand that, that is why I said for those that do not tow much. If you don't tow, and you have to stay out of the turbos to get decent mpg, and if mpg are fairly important to you, I still ask, why have the turbos? This is where I think Ford did not tell the whole story and there are some dissatisfied EB owners.
