I'm going to lazy around this morning and then mow some this afternoon. I will finish the mowing and other yard work tomorrow. Staying here thru Monday, so the weekend won't be quite so rushed.

That's kind of what I am doing this morning and it's supposed to be 60* and sunny tomorrow after a week of cold rainy/snowy weather so I am going to enjoy it. We are also going to cook some nice steaks or stand up pork chops on the grill tomorrow for Easter dinner.

It's a bone in chop that's cut between 1in and 1-1/2in thick and you get your grill as hot as you can get it and you put the chops on the grill standing up on end, then you close the grill and turn the heat all the way down and cook them for about 15-20 with out opening the grill. You will get one of the best, juiciest pork chops that you have ever eaten.

I sure like cooking with the homemade grill my BIL has. It was built by someone in the maintenance dept where he worked, Teaxs Eastman. It's 50 or 60 years old. Really set up nice with a deep enough fire box that you can put 3 or 4 logs on and let them burn down. Air flows well so they burn down quickly. Has a smock stack on it the draws well and a nice sized shelf around the cooker. The grill is a perforated stainless sheet. I'll get a picture of it next time. That thing is over 50 years old and in perfect shape. They used it for company cookouts. I hope he will pass it on to me at some point.

When my big stainless gas grill finally wears out I am going to replace it with something like that. I have also found that to get the best tasting food I don't clean the grates on the grill, I just get them hot and hit them with a wire brush. The grill is four years old and the only thing I do is polish it and empty the grease trap every couple months.

I never liked cooking on gas, always preferred the flavor of the meat cooked over oak or mesquite coals. Mesquite is my favorite. I burn the grill off and then scrape it, never wash it.
