Sellers want to close on the house in 20 days. Time to wait for the paperwork stack, and pack my stuff. Can't wait for this to all be over.

I remember I had a thirty day "quick close" and I had to take a few Fridays off to get stuff situated plus the closing date....I wish you luck and be prepared/organized....don't finance anything within these next 20 days

Good luck Will!

Ok so I will not be using the mechanic at school for my brakes. He said just not to tell my boss when I asked if she would care. So I won't be doing that. The shop guys work on their stuff all the time, but I'm not risking it. My dad refuses to do the brake job and I see why, but I know once I move out and have a second vehicle, I am doing this stuff. You gotta learn somewhere.

But that brings me to my next thing. The mechanic said I was crazy for wanting slotted rotors as it's a waste of money. I just want to do it right once until they need to be changed. I look at the writeup Shanin did (07Fx4Chick) and the company she used was made in the USA and seemed to be well reviewed. What do you guys think of slotted rotors (no dimples) with the wagner pads? And ceramic or semi-metallic? I gotta find someone to do the work now

John....
What's so hard about brakes?
Get yourself a haynes or Chilton manual and its all in there or sign up for alldata.dyi

I have faith in you....now go have faith in yourself

brakes are super easy you can't mess them up unless you were deliberately trying to mess them up and you put the pads on inside out or something.

I have slotted rotors on NT and love them, but make sure you get a good slotted rotor that has deep grooves in it, ive seen some that are really shallow and after the pad breaks in the slot is just about worn flat.

See I want to do them myself so bad... I just think if I took a weekend off from work and took my time and followed the write-up's I could do it. It honestly doesn't even look that bad, but they need to be changed before winter. I bought a Ford service manual dvd so I'm gonna look at that and see if it has anything in it on brakes. Also I'll pick up a Chilten's or Haynes... been planning on it anyways.

Now do the slotted wear the pads faster? Are there cons to them?

Morning.

John, pick up a Chilton/Haynes manual and go watch some how to vids on YouTube, changing brakes is pretty easy and straight forward and like Pat said you really have to work to screw it up.

Glad to see the site back up. I had made an office rule of no Facebook except during lunch and it had me violating my own rule. Would have been hell to pay if one of the women that caused the rule to be implamented had caught me!
