I learned a few thing tonight from some import guys I know. Went down for a coffee with them and showed up just in time for them to discuss on how they were going to turbo a V8 in a guys truck. First off, apparently boost is just fine for high compression motors (more power they say), then went on to about getting a turbo from a cummings motor and either remote locate the turbo or make a header.. just one tho with no crossover and that you dont need a tune for the motor to run properly.... It went on for a while I was going to step in but I didnt know where to start....

You always learn something new when around import/ricer burners. Around here those 4 cylinder hatchback Civics with a CAI and flat black Rustoleum paint will run circles around a Mustang or Corvette.

Apparently the CAI brings the HP up from 90 stock to about 300 at the wheels.

This is honestly what I was told by one kid that had a hatchback Civic that was painted lime green.

I just saw on Facebook he ran it into a telephone pole today

 

Yea one of them is a Civic guy that after countless times of me telling him you need to get the car dyno tuned and not just bolt on a turbo and think the ECM will adapt to the boost its shoving down its throat. Anyways after 3 motors he finally listened and got it properly done but now he thinks it can out run anything. He was telling me the other day he out ran a 2010 Shelby on the highway. ( I didnt have the heart to tell him that the Shelby prolly didnt know he was racing him)

When I had that gray 92 F150 with a 300 6 5 speed I was going down the highway about 55mph and a kid I used to go to school with pulled up beside me in a Civic. I threw it down into 4th, then 3rd back to 4th and by that time I was doing 60mph and he was long gone.

Man that truck was such a pig I wanted to see how fast it would go one day, 75 was tops.

 

His excuse probably was he didnt hit VTEC quick enough
