Had a good time playing golf today. Shot a 89 over 72. That's pretty good for me.

What does 89 over 72 mean? Par was 72?

If you played by the rules, all the rules, that is an excellent score for the time you've been playing and how often you play. When I was playing every week, I expected to shoot 78 to 82 when I went out. If I was in a funk, I would shoot 86 to 88 and a few times I got in the zone and shot low 70's . My best was a 72 and a few 73s. It is a fun feeling to a golfer. But we did play by the rules. Counted every stroke including penalties, no mulligans and did not move the ball. Played it down. We always had a competition going, so playing by the rules was a necessity.

Yeh. We played by the rules up to the 14th hole. I guess I would say that I hit around a 91 then. Still good for me.
