Exclamation Roush Mustang 427R - worth the $$$... ?

With over 400 ponies, almost 400 lb-ft of oompth, a 0-60 time at around the mid 4's and over 20K above the Mustang GT - hovering at around the 50K mark is no spare change - are these beasts worth the $$$... ?

I'm reaching my mid-life crisis at an early age... and want to pick up something around this summer.... something like this.

Never been remotely a Mustang fan, but, God damn [!] these cars are nice! I saw one - for the first time yesterday - and couldn't stop starring. He then started it up and I almost pulled out my [wife's] checkbook.

Worth the dollars or is it better getting something a tad cheaper and throwing that extra moolah into mods? Something like what?

Anyone driven/ridden in one?

Anyone have any feedback whatsoever?

Anything... ?

Too bad you weren't in the market last month. You could have saved $15k.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford-...1358QQtcZphoto
Maybe a slightly used one is the way to go??This one sold a lot cheaper than the stealerships are selling them for new.

GT500>427R, for the same price you get 5.4 DOHC with 500hp.

Nah...

You'd still have the little V-8 in it.

Look hard enough and you might just get a GT500 for around MSRP.

If I was going to for a fast stang I would buy a regular gt, build a bulletproof 5.4 and run about 30lbs of boost from a custome turbo setup. or http://s296.photobucket.com/albums/m...t=6797285f.flv

Not in my book. You can buy yourself a GT and then Supercharge it your self for far less money and it will exceed the Roush. And although the cars usually Retail for around 50 the dealers usually add anywhere from 10-20k Dealer Mark up.

I love the Roush's myself but they are way way overpriced.

They do more to them than just hang a blower on them, handling for one thing is improved.

Overpriced???? 500 hp 5.4L DOHC 6 spd, with a base price of $42,000. 420ish RWHP stock?? And the quoted gains by K&N of 57hp have been proven, close to 50hp from just a intake. Overpriced????

I am fully aware of what they do to them and like I said you can buy yourself a GT and make it as good or better for less money.

The gt500 is one of if not the fastest in a straight line of any car with a comparable price. I agree with richard d that if you don't have that kind of bank then hop a gt to hell and have fun. However if you can afford it the gt500 it is just freakin awesome and definitely worth every penny, your not just gettting a mustang your getting a Shelby. Probably the last one that will be built with Carroll Shelby alive and having any say in it.

That 427R will run circles around a GT500. The Roush is an all-around package. The GT500 suspension is virtually the same as a regular GT. The GT500 is an overrated overpriced collectors car. The 427R was made to be driven and driven hard. I would take a Steeda or Roush Mustang over the GT500 or Saleen anyday. This is coming from someone who sold their '06 GT to buy my current F150. I have spent hours on hours reading up on all the performance Mustangs and believe me, if you do the homework, the Steeda and Roush are definitely the best.
