Sirius & XM Merge

The lifetime plan is for the lifetime of the receiver, not the
subscriber. If your equipment should malfunction you can transfer the
lifetime plan up to three times to a new receiver. There is a transfer
fee of $75.00 per transfer. If the unit is still under the
manufacturer's warranty there will be no transfer fee and it will not
count as one of the three.

This is true, you can also transfer it if you buy a new vehicle

The fine print says lifetime members are entitled to transfer it from unit to unit up to 3x with a $75 service charge.
Fine Print:
" 3. Transfer Fee: If you wish to transfer your Subscription to a different SIRIUS Receiver during the term of a Subscription period, we may charge you a transfer fee of up to $75.00. You may only transfer a lifetime Subscription to a different SIRIUS Receiver a maximum of three times."
I figure 3.3 years is the break-even point for me, and everything after that is gravy.
The thing I like about the Stiletto http://www.siriuscanada.ca/en/produc...cts_00015.aspx
Is that I use it everywhere.
When I'm in the truck, it's sitting in the cradle of the car-kit.
At home, it's connected to the home-kit.
At the beach or when we go camping, I plug it into the boombox thingy and can listen to it there.
As long as you plan to listen to Serius for more than the 3 years, the lifetime is the better way to go economically.
As someone else pointed out, if it breaks down while it's under warranty, it doesnt count towards one of the 3 switches, and since I have the 3 year warranty I'm covered.
I like the idea of never having to pay for it again.
Honestly, I only bought the thing for Howard Stern, but I do listen to some other channels once in a while.

The way in which media markets are ultimately defined will play a large role in whether the Sirius/XM merger will be approved by the FCC, and whether the public feels its media options are controlled by a monopoly.

i have a lifetime subscription for Sirius.. changed my account from my original reciever to another reciever for about a month, then changed it to another reciever a month later... that was about a year and a half ago.. all i did was call up and tell them i needed to move my account to another reciever.. i was never charged anything and still have my lifetime subscription.
