My boys have failed me...

It seems as though I will not be able to pass on my family's namesake. I changed my last name ~7yrs ago partly cause I never knew my father, but also cause I was the only male in the family to carry on my grandfathers' name... and he's always been a role model / mentor to me.

Just got back from the wifes Dr. visit and he's fairly certain (90%) that unless I can find some way of "engineering" the necessary body parts, we will be having girl #2 around the 2nd of August or so.

Am I happy? Yes. Am I somewhat disappointed? Honestly, yea. I was looking forward to having a lil boy. Oh well. She's healthy, that's all I really care about.

Construction of the "Man Lair" begins this Sat. at o'dark thirty. The dog and I are going to need a place to hide and be men while all that estrogen flows freely through the first and second floors of my house...

I said the same thing almost 5 years ago. The man lair doesn't exist anymore. I'm deprived of all manliness with 3 females in the house.......I can't wait till they are in their teens

That's just blashemy! Those are the years when the father is most prone to homicide. And then directly after that comes suicide... cause of the weddings.

Thanks everyone.

In my family, I too am the last of the name lineage. My wife and I had our daughter 16 months ago. She was conceived from in-vitro, due to my testicular cancer and my wifes missing one of her Fallopian tubes. After 16 months of loving my daughter more every day than before, I came to the conclusion that another girl would be a blessing. Vanity and pride drove me to want of a son...but the love of a sweet daughter will more than suffice. We have one more shot. There is another fertilized egg on ice when we are ready for another child. I actually hope that it is a girl. As far as manliness goes, I will steer both of my girls to hunt (read field dress a deer) ride motorcycles, while still maintaining princess status... Sometimes ya just gotta deal with what life hands ya... It may even turn out better than what ya had previously wished for

Girls are awesome, and 99% of if is how you raise them. My daughter is 4.5 and she is a hip girl who is getting into hunting soon. She loves daddys "copper truck" she loves to camp, go to Cabelas and Lowes. She wants to do whatever it is i am doing all the time. How can you top that?

When i was told we were having a girl i was a little worried...didn't know if I was going to be able to "connect" with a daughter b./c I was raised around brothers...but truth is, my daughter is a daddy's girl. And if I know Shines at all, his daughter has him whooped already too.

We do have a boy on the way for July so we are truly blessed but as others have already said, 10 fingers, toes and healthy is more important. The rest will work itself out.

Congrats on the new arrival.

I have managed to teach both of mine that when you ask who the best football player is, they answer in unison, Peyton Manning number 18!

You could've taught them a better player.

Definately health is #1 priority. No doubt.

As for my dau now, she'll be 4 in May and is definately a 'Daddy's Girl'. She also loves going to Lowes, Home Depot, Cabela's, etc. and always wants to help me out... unless it's killing ants. She HATES insects and turns all girly on me during those times.

I'm sure these feelings I'm having right now will subside soon enough, and I do feel blessed that our 2nd (and last) child is healthy. But I can't help feeling a lil disappointed that 'its' not a boy. My wife feels bad for me, and knows it bothers me a bit... I'll get over it.

Thanks for all the kind words and advise guys. Just counting the days now.
