ok wife's b-day is coming up and she'll turn 21. wanted to give her the party i never had, so i gave her the option of vegas and then go to san diego to the zoo etc (she loves animals) or jamaica... she picked Jamaica! (knew she was smart..)

sooo, going to negril at the end of april for about 5 days...any tips and suggestions.....

only tip I have is have fun. I was in Ocho Rios and it was pretty cool.

 

i went to ocho rios for my honeymoon. the bus ride was insane, but other than that it was great. everything moves on their time, so be patient, be polite and have fun. don't convert your money to jamaican dollars. green backs are taken everywhere. you'll see Appleton's rum everywhere. it's great stuff and i almost bought a bottle until i was told it was sold in the states. they jack the prices of all their stuff for the tourists. a bottle of appletons was $25 and the same size bottle of capt. morgan's was $10. doesn't make much sense when they have to import the capt. does it? i bought appletons back home for ~$15 and i didn't have to mess with customs. if you smoke, bring your own. you can legally bring in 10 packs i think (200 cigarettes). average price was $7.50/packfor marlboros.

 

Get used to saying... no, no thanks, not interested, and get the hell away from me! Most of what I remember from Jamaica was getting hasseled by the locals with shops in town. I don't care if I ever hear "Sir please come see my store." again.

 

you dong one of those all inclusives or just staying at a normal hotel?

 

Negril is one of the nicer areas of Jamaica. We stayed at the Couples for our honeymoon. The local shops can be pushy, but if you can talk and haggle you can get anything for your price, not theirs. Take the booze cruises if your resort offer them, and if you are adventurous, try the cliff dive at Rick's during sunset. Scuba diving out there is unreal as well, some of the clearest water I have ever been in. Even 40+feet down, it's like being in a swimming pool.

 

going for the all inclusive at the hedonism II i believe is the name of it in negril. lol i'm usually pretty good hassling so we should see some interesting stuff.... i'm thinking it should be a blast. my boss goes about once every 2 months and gave me some good pointers

I just booked a trip to Jamaica as well! I leave on the 11th, WOOT! Last time I was there we stayed in Montego Bay, but this time we're staying in Falmouth, just down the road from Ocho Rios.

So, I have to ask. Do you like having sex in public?

 

You know that's a nudist resort right?? It's not a mandatory thing, but expect to see some very "open" and"saggy" individuals there.

 

Oh yeah, some tips. Well, you're going all inclusive and the rule is, no tipping. They will gladly take tips. but do it discretley with a handshake when passing the bills. If you place it on the bar, it's almost as if you're insulting them. They're not allowed to take it. A small tip here and there goes a long way. Yes, US currency is taken everywhere. I'll make sure I get a wod of one's and the exchange center I deal with before I leave.
Ganja is available everywhere. Deal with the Jamaicans that are somewhat permitted to peddle their wares near the resort on the beach. These guys are always friendly, but you still need to haggle. Resort security allows them to do their thing because they're not inyourface like others off the resort are, and these people don't want to blow that. This is why they're allowed to do some selling near the resorts.

Also, depending on where you are, you DO NOT want to leave the resort at night, unless you don't fear death...LOL

A fellow I know, professionally, recently returned from Hedo. Oh man, the stories he told me had me doubled over in hysterics. Imagine swimming in the pool while buddy's woman is sitting on the edge of the pool nekid, with her legs in the water as buddy moves in for some hair pie

Or, walking down the beach watching the bobbing *****, or looking up at a cliff near the beach seeing the top of a head bobbing and weaving

That's not my bag to see people doing that kinda stuff in public, but obviously it is to some!
