i heard 80 bucks an hour from the guy at my muffler shop...i asked him about making some custom tips and he was like itd take me liek 4 hours to fab up one side and at 83.00 dollars an hour i dont think youd want that...

That is about the hourly labor rate of most shops. Keep in mind though that pays for the service writers, lifts, insurance & the mechanic. My cousin is a heavyline tech at Nissan and makes mid 20's and hour. He is a decent mechanic though and can flag 60-100 hours when he actually is only at work for 40-45. The trick is to be efficient and you can make a very good living being a mechanic
