[QUOTE=

I don't understand the "I won't watch NASCAR because there are Toyotas running now" thought process. makes no sense to me.[/QUOTE]

Maybe it's selfish on my part, but I believe the races should be limited to American manufacturers. I'm just not ready for the globalization of one of our national sports. NASCAR has made everything too equal, in my opinion. The focus today is more on the drivers anyway.

Why not let the Japanese play in the WORLD series while we're at it? I bet you'd hear more than a few baseball fans squaking about that too.

Unfortunately you're probably right.

My guy drives a Toyota. I'll pull for Toyota until he drives something else.

So why don't we just limit all sports to caucasian Americans.

That makes as much sense as what you said.

you understand that is an apples and oranges thing, dont you?

I have been a NASCAR fan for 30 years ..

doesn't bother me at all.

I am not a big fan of the racing right now.. but it has nothing to do with Toyota.

I dont understand what you are saying. Toyota shouldn't be allowed to have their race cars in Nascar.......cause they are a foreign manufacturer? Uh...Toyota has a plant in Texas and Indiana. That makes them just as eligible to be in Nascar as Dodge and Ford. Even if they didnt have plants in Texas and Indiana, why would that stop them from putting in cars in Nascar? What wins on Sunday sells on Monday. If they have the better car, then maybe the other manufacturers should step it up. Its healthy competition.

Ding! Ding! Common sense prevails!

The funny thing is the ONLY difference between any of the makes in the Cup series is the motor.

NASCAR is like any other major sport out there. Toyota anted up the money to play, so let em'! It will only help in kicking Ford and Dodge in the a** to bump up their programs seeing Chevy and Toyota will the ones to beat this year.

Besides Roush, notably Edwards, Kenseth, and maybe Biffle, who does Ford have that can win? I can't see anyone from Yates doing anything special this year and the Wood Brothers have been out of it for along time. ( so it really isn't "Awesome Bill" as much of you would like it be )

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Ford do well, but it's slim pickins.

Well, I don't want to start another argument, but I don't think foreign cars should be allowed to race in NASCAR cup events. (I know I'm not alone on this one, although it appears so in this thread.) I don't care if there's a Toyota assembly plant next door to me, they're still a FOREIGN company headquartered in a country that taxes the hell out of American vehicles imported into their country. I don't like that, so I don't like them. (I do drive a $500 Toyota beater to work, but would never buy a new one.) I truely believe that once Toyota and others put Detroit basically out of business, they could pull the plug on their assembly plants here and start to import their vehicles assembled in India, China, Indonesia or some other place where the workers make 50 cents an hour, and have no qualms about it. I know...I know...Detroit basically screwed itself by making too many union consessions and (in the past) producing vehicles of less than stellar quality. I'm not after a discussion in economics, nor one in quality perception. I'm just trying to let you know where I'm coming from.
