That's what I was thinking, all I saw on the website was the SRT8 with the 6.1.

I can't wait....by the time my truck is paid off, I should be able to pick between the Challenger, new Mustang, and new Camaro for my next vehicle

While a close second, the battle cry of the V-8 getting with it still sounds better than the whistle of a turbo.

i do like the looks of the Challenger more than the new Camaro(talk about horrible interior) and would like to test drive the manual version
The 5.7 is up to 380hp for this year in the Ram, that is a fair amount of ground to cover from the current 300 hp 4.6. Of course Dodge could take Ford's aproach and start utilizing superchargers to close any performance gap they need to close. What is a current Stang up to now for weight? I know it is the biggest, heaviest Mustang built to date right now.

The original Challenger died because it was more expensive than the Mustang for what the avg joe wanted. A 340 in a Challenger was hot, but would take a thrashing against a 351C in a Stang. However a Hemi Challenger would stomp the Mustangs lights out, no contest, but not everybody wanted to drive one to work every day, they were just too extreme for what they had to work with back then. The Camaro died from a similar fate, a LS1 equipped one would out perform a run of the mil GT, but drug alot of the costs associated with its Corvette lineage with it and priced it between a GT and a Corvette. People that just wanted a cheap quick car went with the Stang, most of those that wanted to hop a car up saved money and went to the Stang, knowing most of the expensive performance oriented parts on the Camaro would end up on the shelf anyway.

Surely Chrysler has noted this and will adjust accordingly or else this will just be another Prowler, something that enters the market with alot of fanfare only to slowly fade away after it finds itself stuck between too markets that it can't fairly compete in. This first year is probably just to test the waters, if it looks good I bet a brutal horsepower war will ensue. Of course the crummy market may hurt this prospect.

It may say $40k now, but when the dealer tacks on the fair market value price, you'll pay more like $50k.

Still, 40K for the SRT8 with the 6.1 Hemi. Good deal.

I just purchased 2 "official press kits" on e-bay. These are starting to go for crazy money. Just like this one...

I guess but the numbers suck for the car. It's a pig and I realize it but still you'd think with all that HP it'd be able to do something a little bit better on the 1/4 mile. I'm just glad someone's "Muscle" car is heavier than the Mustang, finally !!!
