Mir has excellent submissions and Lesnar does not yet have good submission defense. Bad match up for Lesnar.
But if Lesnar had won convincingly, he would be in excellent position to fight one of the top HW fighters in a big time PPV match.
Lesnar has tons of potential and he would be a difficult match for anyone. Next time, he'll work on his weakness (submission defense) and fight more patiently.
Since Lesnar's a big name, the UFC will want to match him up big name opponents right away. That is going to make it tough on him to climb the ladder, though he will get paid well.
IMO, if he is serious about a UFC title, he would take on some lesser opponents first and get a little more octagon experience over the next year or two.
