That was the idea for 55mph back in the 70s. Now, with fuel injection and all that, going faster doesnt always mean worse gas mileage. There's no difference in mine between 65 and 80, now the old Galaxie I had, the faster I went the faster the gas gauge dropped.

As your speed doubles your drag quadrouples, and when you are trying to push a brick thru the air (like say a F-150) it normally has a large part to do with the milage you get.

Heh i got stopped by a cop in I-70 once. doing 130 in a 70... i figured why try to outrun him.. so i pulled over and he came up to the window. He said sir, What did you stop for.. there was no way i could have caught you. I just wanted to have an excuse to drive fast.

Sunday morning about 7:30 am. no one was on the road. Still didnt get a ticket
