FORD has lost their mind

Simmer down, fellas. The article is inaccurate as it is, and it's already being misinterpreted as an invasion of one's rights to take a photograph.
First of all, this is a trademark, not a copyright issue. Ford possesses trademark rights in its logos, and perhaps some of its cars (VW has registered the new bug profile, for instance).
Nobody is saying that you can't take a picture of your car and use it for non-commercial purposes. Ford is objecting because the calendar is commercial (trademark infringement requires a commercial use).
Whether or not Ford can under any circumstances prevent someone from using a photo of a car is a complicated discussion, and likely of little interest to anyone but an intellectual property attorney.
With all due respect to Cliff, the best bet is to ignore the article entirely.

how come this has exploded here in the past week? This is like the 5th thread about it. Its been going on for a while. Me and Patshea tried making tshirts with this kickass design i made before, and i found out it costs $1,000,000 to sell anything with a ford shape name or image on it.
This article has exploded because most didn't bother to really read it well. Ford Motor could care less about how often you take pictures of your vehicles, but they do care about when you use "their" logo to advertise or promote something for "your" gain without compensation.
This is esssentially not any different than if someone from Royal Purple, for example, took a photo of "your" truck at a race track and put the photo on it's products with the intent of promoting their products usage and increasing their companies revenues - and without your knowledge or permission. You'd probably be pretty upset when you found out someone else was profiting from "your" truck and "your" work. And if it turned out you didn't use Royal Purple products, you'd probably be upset that they were using photos of "your" truck for false advertising and promoting a product you didn't use - and telling the whole world that and maybe making you look like a fool.
