Hersh you need to stop writing these novels. It's very hard to address them, completely.

I'd argue that point to the moon and back. Most kids around me like trucks, nothing less. But if they had to have a car, I bet you that about 75% would say they'd want a Mustang. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "Why'd you sell your truck!?" "Well, I'd get a Mustang too if I wanted a car"

Thats the same problem with ANY sports car.

They believe there is a replacement for displacement, and that's technology.
The Mustangs have modular 3V motors. A 4.6 that produces a 300 hp naturally aspirated is pretty good. Not to mention how much room is left in the tuning among other things.

I can't speak for every where but I'll speak for where I live .. My girlfriend has a Mustang, she's been around them her whole life. Both of her brothers even have Mustangs. But to say 9 out 10 Mustangs are driven by woman, that's CRAZY. I'd have to say 3 out of 10 regardless of V6 or GT.

I like the car. I live out in California and you see more infinities/350z then you do anything else. Its crazy!! I think they look really nice especially when a large group of them pass you up and you can hear that some of them are turbo charged.

I like the Mustange to but I love the tech. of the infinities. Those manufactures don't try to cram a backseat into the 350z they make people go without- I wouldn't mind seeing a Mustang with that option- it would really decrease some weight. The infinites are monsters with a turbo or 2.

Some buddy mentioned young people going after technology vs V8's and thats the truth at least out here. Its sure nice to hear that rumble of a v8 but getting great fuel economy and having more power and performance from a 4 cyclinder is amazing. My cousin has a Subaru STI its amazing, handling power etc. If they weren't so expensive I would like to get one also they are all wheel drive. Sure he loses in a top speed run vs my friends SRT-8 but he wins every time from a stop and through normal driving speeds.

So yes I like the new hyndai, at least with all the competition it will force everyone to make a better vehicles sooner.

The mustang and the Hyundai don't look too similar... my mom has an 06 Hyundai Sonata, it picks up FAST! and it's only a 4 banger

I know what you mean... Hyundai has come a long way-

While it isnn't badged as a Hyundai, the Kia is really the same car (in many ways) under the skin as a Hyundai. I drove one (Kia Amanti) in late 2006 while out in Cali. It was the top car in their model line, spec'd out as one would expect a rental car to be (cloth seats). Very nice riding car, very quiet, very powerful- it felt.

It was quite peppy when I got on the gas, and I just assumed since it was the same size and the new model year, that it had the same 268 HP engine as the 2006 Hyundai Azzerra had. Wrong...

I was so impressed with the Kia, when I got back home, I did a little research on it, and much to my surprise, the Kia only had the 200 HP 3.5L V6- and it was the only engine Kia offered in that car that year. A full 68 HP less than the Azzerra. I figured the Azzerra would ride even nicer, and feel more powerful- had I the chance to drive one. I never took the tiem to go see.

A lot of the Magazines say Hyundai is today, where Honda was 10 years ago with their fit & finish, and powertrain reliability. That, to me is high praise- because 10 years ago, magazines were saying Honda and Toyota has the best fit & finish and reliability of all the car manufacturers, except Lexus, and Mercedes, and I still see a plethora of 10 and 15 year old Honda's on the road. With a 10-year, 100,000 mile warranty, picking up a Hyundai or Kia might not be a bad investment for a young adult looking for a nice ride, for parents looking for a good first car for their kids, or for anyone looking for the best bang for their hard-earned bucks.

For years we've worried about the Japanese... Here come the Koreans...

I guess Chevy is goign to leave the Cobalt SS for the poor folks, looking for decent performance.
Considering that price is $2,500.00 less than the MSRP of the current top of the line Mustang GT-500, that's not so bad. (If you could actually get one for MSRP yet. ) Especially since the top of the line Camaro is also rumored to be sporting a Z06 powertrain.

That's because those are your friends/peers, and they "see" your car. Of course they'd want what you have, or better- if they actually ever saw something they thoght might be better.

True. but, not so much with a car with 4 doors (Impreza, STI, Lancer, EVO). For many kids, it's not about how fast it is, but how good it looks. I'm tellign you, a lot of kids would take a 197 HP Civic SI with a fart can muffler over a 300 HP Mustang GT with flowmasters.

I know, but it seems the kids don't care... At least not where I live.

Again, not where I live. Same is true for Expeditions too. When I had my Expy, it was rare for me to pull up to another Expedition, look over, and see a man driving it. Tahoe's and Suburbans too...

If I didn't say it, I meant 9 of 10 V6 Mustangs I see, are driven by women.

Ohh-snap...

Well, if it's putting out 500 HP, then $41,000 will be a steal, not to mention the fact that it'll smoke those base C6 drivers too... Now that I type that, I doubt GM will give it 500 HP. They'll probably detune it to 430 HP... I don't see GM giving the Camaro the capability of castrating their Corvette, in any form.

It'll be detuned some; but, the Vette will still have a nice weight and handling advantage. It'll still be an impressive ride... If the rumors hold true.

What's really cool about the Tiburon, is that the base car is supposed to have a turbo-charged 4 cylinder.

The 300 HP, RWD Tiburon (if they call it that) is supposed to be a few grand less than the Mustang GT, and the base 200+ Turbo i4 model is supposed to be "a few grand less" than the 300 HP V6 version.

The pics I posted of it were supposed to be pretty much what the end result might look like, minus the ventilated hood, and the 20" rims. The stock version is supposed to have 18 - 19" wheels instead- probably to help cushion the ride.

The article also said this car is having it's chassis tuned with the BMW 335i in mind, and will offer a very similar set-up. So, for enthusiast drivers who enjoy handling as much as straight line accelleration, this car might be a bargin barn-stormer. A true "sleeper".

After all, no one expects to lose a race to a Hyundai.

when i was younger, lots of kids had posters of cars on their walls--corvettes, challengers, camaros, mustangs, classics, belvederes, the occasional porsche and italian supercars-countach, testarossa, etc...

it's sad to think kids these days might be drooling over a poster of a civic or camry or whatnot...i can appreciate the engineering that goes into these little high winding 4 cylinders and the resultant fuel economy, but there's no swagger and little substance to many of these imports

aesthetically speaking, i think the g35 and 350z are well-defined, but like a porsche boxster, the whole is just too small and cramped for my liking...my back doesn't even touch the seatface of the boxster because the side bolsters are so narrow--and that's pretty much how most of these little imports i've sat in feel too

as for the hyundai in the post, it's not my bag, but i've seen uglier
