I'd like to see a better picture.
To be honest, I am sick and tired of seeing mustangs. They were awesome for awhile, but now you have way too many on the road. Kinda like illegal aliens in Texas.
It doesn't look too bad but we'll see what happens when people start actually driving them and they fall apart.
But yet you drive the most popular trucks? LOL!
While that may be true but if you're going to mod it than it's only fair that the Mustang is modded. Mustangs are very reasonable to mod. I'll only address this since you used it as an example, if you just slapped a turbo/intercooler, it'll probably be about $6,000. I can slap a supercharger/intercooler on my car for $3,600. Talk about game over ...

I think one of the problems is, the Mustang dosn't have the same demographic fan base it used to have.
While there are kids who might like a Mustang, I'd wager that the demoraphic that really likes the Mustang, are over the age of 30. Unless their mother or father loved Mustangs, and it rubbed off on them.
Let's face it- by the time you're 30, while you can probably easily afford a Mustang GT, but it becomes an impractical vehicle if you have a family. As does any sports car, unless you have the financial means to have it as a "toy".
The cars that appeal to today's youth, and their buying power are the Japanese imports. (Mitsubishi Eclipse, Honda Civic, Nissan Sentra, Mitsubishi Lancer, Subaru Sti, and cars of that nature. Sure, the STI, and Evolution may be as costly as a Mustang GT, but they'll be cheaper to insure because they're 4-door cars. This started before "The Fast & the Furious" came out, but that movie only widened the gap.
I used to be a member on some website- speedmagazine.com, or something like that. And, over there- the consensus is pretty much that American Muscle cars are old, unreliable, pushrod, antequated technology. They have much more respect for a DOHC, 2.4L I4 that can produce 300 HP, than they do for a 6.0L V8 that can produce 500 HP. They believe there is a replacement for displacement, and that's technology.
Mustangs will always have fans, especially women (I'd bet 9 out of every 10 Mustangs you see, are driven by women- unless you see a GT, then it goes to about 50/50). But more and more, the youth are turning to the imports for their sporty and true sports cars.
If Nissan slaps some turbo's on the 350-Z, they would be hard to handle, straight line, and would eat a Mustang's lunch in curves. But even natuarlly aspirated, with a 300+ HP V6, they still have equal HP and parked next to each other, the Z just looks more "classy" than a Stang. So, that's what you'll see the 30 somethings driving, especially if they're single, or DINK's. (Double-Income No Kids).
I like Mustangs. I love them, and had I 30K burning a hoel in my pocket, I might go out and buy myself one. But, I betcha the average 12th grader in 2008, if you gave him or her $30,000- the car they'd go out and buy, would probably have a Honda, Acura, Mitsubishi. Nissan, or Infiniti badge on it- if they are looking for a sporty car. Only a handful woudl opt for the Mustang.
The retro look is cool, but for the next Mustang, Ford needs to look towards the future, if they want to recapture the young market. Hyundai's doing it..
PS: Rumor has it that Toyota is brining back the Supra.
I'm also surprised Nissan hasn't brought back the twin-turbo "Z". I figured they'd do it in the 350 Z's second year, but that body has been out for 4 years or more, and still no turbo version. Maybe if Toyota brings the Supra Turbo back, Nissan might be compelled to offer a high-zoot version of the Z, under $40K.
Bad news: The rumor is the top of the line Camaro (2009) is expected to tip the scales at $41,000.00. Not exactly a poor man's Corvette anymore.
I guess Chevy is goign to leave the Cobalt SS for the poor folks, looking for decent performance.

the rumor is also that they will have a camaro to compete with the v6 mustang in the same price range. I hate the tundra but people say they cost a lot, they sure do, they tip 60 grand fully loaded ,but that doesnt mean you cant get a 23 grand POS work truck.
