Unfortunately, I have been on disability for 13 years now, due to a major wreck I had 25 years ago where I broke everything from my knees up! I was a former "Repo Man" for GMAC before becoming a Corrections officer, (aka, "Guard) at three of the state prisons here in KS. I could tell some stories from both positions, believe me!

I do some a$$ kicking intarsia wood carvings when I'm not in the operating room or recovering from my "latest" corrective surgery, of which I've had twelve in the last six years now.

I have been in the aviation field for over 15 years. I currently teach aircraft maintenance. Great job, plus I do not have to work outside in the elements.

Also getting ready to go back to school and finish my degree in Aeronautics.

I work on those stupid cars with the silly star up front. Mercedes Benz technician. I love my job! I love driving around in $150k cars and getting to pretend i know what i am doing. I have also just recently made partner with the shop i work at. There is plenty of $$$ to be found in the auto industry. People will always need transportation, you just have to keep learning how to fix it. (and I have to give a big thanks to anyone who is/has served our country. Your service is appreciated in a way I cannot describe. From the bottom of my heart, I truly do thank you. You are all hero's in my eyes. No matter what branch, or what job you performed while serving. )

The only advice I would like to offer to the young guys trying to figure out what to do would be the same as everyone else has said. DO NOT FOCUS on the money. In the long run the money wont make some chitty job you dread worth it. Find something you enjoy doing in an enviroment that you enjoy being in. Your quality of life is what will matter. Having money is nice, but being able to enjoy life and smile is a little bit better (maybe just my opinion). Good luck bud!
