I'm actually a trained Naval Meteorologist, but weather was never my forte. Guess it's a good thing I made rank so fast and moved into more management than operational meteorology.

Yea I'm just a hobby..... I like watching for the signs.
No training just 32 years of observing and personal research.

I had to look up the name, I didn't know if Mackerel was correct term or not, I knew what caused it and had heard the saying though. Also didn't know why it was called Mackerel until I looked it up.

Nice pictures. I love my D70, except for the electronics problems. You had any problems with yours? I had the dreaded BGLOD which thankfully was fixed for free. But now I'm experiencing the FOR and another error which results in corrupted photos and is evidently a $200 fix. Not looking forward to sending it in for that repair here soon. But it takes fantastic pictures.
