Lying Sales Scum

So I see a new tactic is they call and say they are from such and such university and doing research ect for this or that project. Then they try to ask you questions about your business so they can target you later for their sales pitch. I'd like to say.... "*******you, you lying POS" but must refrain and simply refuse to take part in their scam. God they are disgusting scum.

"They" have mouths to feed just like everybody else. The world revolves around sales like it or not.

I refuse to do B2C sales (business to consumer) but rather stick to B2B sales (business to business). Been doing telemarketing for 10 years. I will never have a job calling potential customers at home though, not my cup o' tea.

However, my job is honestly a cakewalk. No travel, rarely ever work past 5:00, no weekends, blue jeans and T-shirts, shorts and sandles in the summer. And I'd only upset you more if I told you my income...

I hear you though, I hate the calls at home trying to switch my phone service or cable provider, insurance etc... But it's a job like anything else. And at least they are working instead of sponging off of society.

You can make that same argument for anyone in any industry. Your high level CEOs, NY Governors, Ebay scammers, Catholic Priests etc...

Yes there are unethical sales people, just like there are unethical people in almost every career known to man. But you seem to focus most of your hostility on the Sales reps. I say most because I have read your posts relating to various other individuals (like your Spitzer post).

And I revert back to my original statement in yesterday's post. "If you were to compare the # of views of the "High Roller" thread to the exact same thread with the word Sale or Buy in the title, you would get 2 very different results."

I don't think you understand the concept of profiling also. A telemarketer is going to ask you questions regarding your career and lifestyle so they can qualify you to see if you are a viable candidate for their service. They don't want to talk to you because they are bored, they want to know if you fit their typical customer profile. How successful do you think a company would be if they came right out and asked "Hello Dr. Franko, do you want to buy a $2000 vacuum cleaner?"

I hate getting called at home, making a living or not, calling someone at home is bs, especially when they never asked to be called.

Anymore, I'm just a rude ***** about it, and all they hear is the dial tone, and quickly. You can't be nice to these people because mistake your niceness for weakness, you've got to end it quickly and just tell them to fo, followed by hanging up. This unfortuantly is what it takes before they get it.

Get a real job!

How about this one....

I recently had the valves adjusted on my 1 year old craftsman mower. A few days later I get a call. They say "I see you recently had some work done.......Are you happy with the service" blah blah blah......while I have you on the phone would you be interested in........blah, blah, blah". Now that pissed me off. Disguising the call as a customer service follow up and then trying to sell me something.

Fair enough (not that I'd call).

135K on average. Not too shabby for a scumbag telemarketer.

I detest sales call intrusions whether at home or at work. If I want to buy something, I will look for it. I let calls roll to the answering machine at home and the receptionist screens the calls at work. Nothing worse than being in the middle of trying to solve a serious problem and you pick up the phone "Mr. Smith, I know you are busy so I will only take a minute blah blah blah" Makes me so mad, I say not interested and hang up. BTW, it really is Smith.
