I hope that he gets another chance (which Im sure he will). Im not pointing fingers but I cant beleive what some of guys think.

 

I agree with that. The NFL is different than a corporate setting. Flipping people off in a corporate world will get you canned quick. But in the NFL its allowed somewhat. I remember when Brian *** was on the Dolphins and came out of the stadium onto the field in Buffalo with both middle fingers flying high! It was awesome! Yes they get fined but they wont get fired.

 

I reffed basketball at the Div 1 level. WE were told at the beginning of each season what our code of conduct was. It was also posted on the walss of each officials' dressing quarters we visitied. Often times, it was what we might do OFF THE FLOOR that would casue us more damage. The same is true here. You seem to think that everybody needs to get one of these:



It isn't necessarily what you do on the floor, the field, or whatever that counts; it is what you do off the floor or the field!

While what Vick did not have anything to do with the outcome of the games, it did have everything to do with the image of the NFL---his employer.
Life isn't about "mulligans" or a "do-overs." I have known quite a few professional athletes---minor league baseball players and umps, and a few major league players, as well. You get one shot at the brass ring---after that, it is someone els'e turn.
You get one shot at something---if you screw up, move on. The same is true with Vick. I agree with Vader; you flip somebody off on my time---you are done. You flip somebody off on your time, but in my uniform--or where people can identify you as my employee---you're going to be gone, too.

You was talking about the ref that threw games, and now you change subjects. I dont care who or what you were a ref for. It is still different than the NFL. You are saying he should not ever play again, I say he should get a chance. People dealing and doing drugs are allowed back and a guy thats fighting dogs should not be? He did not kill anyone, he did not rape anyone, he did not do this while he was at work, I believe he deserves another chance. And about the get out of jail thing, I said he deserves the time he will spend in jail. And as I said to Vader, the NFL is different than your job or place of busines and they do it all the time and get fines and suspensions and everything else. It is all dealt with differently than your place of business, mainly because it is not your place of business and you dont run it, Thank God. Because we would not have been able to see many great athletes playing on that field because they got a little hot and flipped someone off.

Yes it is. How can you say it isn't? His actions, regretful and yes he regretfully admits so, are what caused him to lose everything.

 

Mean4X4machine---in our world, there are consequences for taking certain actions. I beleive that Vick knew what he was doing was wrong---and he needs to accept the consequences---and one of those consequences may be never playing again in the NFL (regardless of how much restitution is made.) Now, maybe your neck of the world has no consequences, but in a federal court of law, and, in the court of public opinion (which seems to weigh heavily now in the minds of the bigwhigs in the NFL), he probably will be working somewhere other than the Georgia Dome and other venues of the NFL.
