Should Spanking Your Child Be Illegal?

My 2 most hated lines when I was a kid:
Go get a switch! (I'd come back with a rotten stick, then my mother would go grab one of those thin elastic ones and ware my tail out
)
and
This is gonna hurt me more than you! ( at that point I would say yeah right or that didn't hurt! my Dad never liked that too much He'd have one of my arms, I'd be running in circles and he'd be chasing my tail with that belt )
Or I'd yell I'm calling child abuse and his reply would be Go ahead, I have a good 5 minutes before they get here
My great-grandmother who was born in 1912, she never gave me any warnings. She'd just slap you and then step over your body that usually was lying on the floor
I was a bad kid though, diagnosed w/ ADD and taking 100 mgs of riddlin a day. I was getting 2-3 whoopin's a day and deserved every one of them.

It happens to be a moot point anyway because my children are adults now. They have not grown into child abusers, mass murders, serial rapists or any other vile creature.
My youngest son (21) is living with his girlfriend and working as a lube technician at a Ford dealership. They have their own apartment, 3 vehicles a boat and as far as I can tell are very happy.
My oldest son (26) is married and has 2 beautiful children of his own. He is active duty Navy and is busy defending your right to say whatever you want about spanking a child and my right to do it anyway...
