Anyone play Paintball?

Just like the title says.. Does anyone play paintball? I used to play A LOT when I was younger but I'm thinking about getting back into it. Any good websites to purchase from? I forget all of them.

I have a Tippmann A-5. I think it's a sweet gun but I would get raped by 10 year olds with $1500 guns so I quit playin and now I just use it to shoot at birds, kids messing with my truck, etc.

Guns have come down a lot since when I was playing. I had a Spyder Flash LCD and I think it was around $400-$500. Now I can get a pretty damn nice gun for about $300 plus the accessories. Not to mention top of the line guns use to be like $2,000-$3,000 with no options now they're about $1,100.

I think paintball was getting big about the same time I was learning to use M.I.L.E.S.

Nothing like laser tag Army style.

I used to play, but it's been a few years. I went through a ton of different guns, but my favorites were always the Automags. Simple but effective. I had a Bushmaster once that was damn nice, too.

That smart parts marker is really sweet I tested the Ion out at a field back home and fell in love w/ it. Its affordable, quiet, and light. The epiphany is the step up from the Ion and I beleve has upgraded electronic eyes ect. Get It and tell me what ya think. I have a Tippman 98 w/ 16in. CP barrel, I love it but it is the basic so I cant add all the extra goodys. The Ion is right in my price range. I figure you can get the marker, good bottle, and nice halo hopper for under 500.

I used to play competitivley, AKA Vikings, DM3-7'S Had it all.
Try www.pbnation.com if you want to know how the sport has progressed.

Now I shoot competitively (Glock 40), attacking targets like I was runnin tape!!
All the military guys that play paintball seem to use cover alot (it's in there training) But with a couple good back men who can shoot cover and communicate well and you run and gun you take a shot and the other guy ducks in, cannot see you advance and before you know it you have stitched the guy up his side about 5-9 shots with firing rate held at 300 fps and cap rate of fire is at 15bps for 7 man, ramping and full auto are now alowed in speedball.

Some teams have players making 100k a year playing pb.

Crazy stuff, you can kill your friends, and go for Barley pops and pizza afterwards.
To dramatic now though, check out pbnation and watch some vids.

Since you seem to know your stuff, what gun should I go for with what options? I'm not looking to spend more than $800 for a full set-up including a Halo and Dye mask.. which both are about $100 each..

Oh man Paintball, I used to play on a semi-pro team we were sponsored by Dye and Miller Lite, Team Darkness, Black and Grey uniforms "Wore all dye", 7 Man Team (I played forward Man), Sup air fields man those were the days, even though we would get the DM3's (New back then) For about $400, I never got one I would use my Angel A3 With a McDev 65/4500 Low Pressure Nitrogen Tank, and the Empire Sound activated Loader.

If your looking for a cheap gun that rips and keeps up with Timmy's and Angels buy a Smart Parts Ion, cheap and very user friendly. I to have been wanting to start playing again, I have a lot of friends that still play.

I've been thinking about getting back into paintball as well. As far as markers go, I've always said it's the player, not the gun. I've seen kids with a stupid pump gun that can kill the guy with the Angel every game. As for me, I'll stick with a Spyder or Tippman. Simple and reliable.

No kidding .. I saw the same stuff at the fields here. I had a Spyder Flash LCD which was a pretty decent gun but I was playing against kids and grown men with $2000-$3000 guns. They'd get pissed when someone beat them that they had just made fun of because their gun wasn't badass like theirs.

I read on a forum that the Ions are horrible to take apart. I've never used one or tried to take it apart so I can't exactly agree but what do you think about the Epiphany? Can you recommend a tank to me for this gun? I'll probably end up getting one of the new Halo loaders just in case I plan on upgrading. I have only heard good things about those loaders. I remember when I played the Ricochet just came out and was about the same price as the Halos. I got it because everyone else had the Halos, it was alright but now I see they're only $30 while the Halos are $90!! LOL Craazzzy how things change .. The DM7s look pretty nice, but I'm so sure I want to spend that kind of money even if I do get back into it.

Get on the nation and purchase through the BST forum, check out peoples feedback, it's a great site with lots of good people.
You could find a used DM6-7 pretty cheap. (Along with everything else you need) I say DM series guns as they are super easy to maintain.
Then go to www.tadaotechnologies.com and get a upgraded chip.
Make sure the bottle you buy is in hydro date otherwise you'll have to send it out for re-hydro (good for 5 yrs)..

Damage Inc (RIP) was my team.

Again get onto www.pbnation.com check it out it's a great site for everything paintball, watch out though lots of drama queens in the sport.

Our sponsors left a bad taste in my mouth due to they would be great supplying us with all the gear, put us up in hotels, buy plane tix entry fees all that but would fall short on paying out per our agreement.
Stick with local tourneys and stuff.
