Thump;
I had a teammate that picked up a S.P. Epiphany for a tourney league that we played in this year. He played with it for a total of like 2 and half games and then it went down on him. Had to send it off to S.Parts to get the thing fixed. Smarts Parts had the dang thing for close to two months before he got it back! He was a newbie and I had to help him take the thing apart at the first event and that was a bear! I wouldn't waste my money. IT was also a Gas Hog...
Like Swank said also the DM's and Proto's are a great marker. The DM's are a bit more hefty in price than the Proto's. I myself play with a '06 Proto, I've never had a bit a problem with it. As long as you keep the paint out of the eyes and keep it properly lubbed up, you shouldn't have any problems. Most of my other teammates either have a DM or a Proto. It's like a 50/50 split team wise. I would have to recomemd Pbnation also, to find all the information you could be looking for. Hope it helps.

Cool

It depends on how much your going to play - and who with.

If you're going to be playing only a couple of times a year and only with co-workers / friends / etc. - then I would advise against a heavy investment.

The Tippmann line of markers represents the Ak-47 of paintball guns. Zippy for maintenance - zippy failures - etc. Very reliable.

The Auto****er is still around - albeit not as feature rich as the electronics out that are available (Ion / Spyder types / etc.) - but - they are still the most accurate! Usually around the $200 - $300 price range.

Whatever marker you decide on - factor in your hopeful upgrades in the price. You'll almost always end up upgrading the barrel - bolt - air - blah, blah, blah. Pricey! It doesn't pay a lot for a marker if you intend to replace most of the stock components.

Be sure to buy the best mask available. (double-payne anti-fog goggles). You'll enjoy playing much more - fogging sucks!

Hopper prices are ridiculous now - $100?? Give me a freaking break - while prices have gone up - reliability hasn't. I usually have to replace my hopper every one and a half seasons. They chew through batteries now like you wouldn't believe. No recommendation here - just match the feeder to the gun - you won't get any benefit pushing more ***** than your marker can handle. Timer / ball counter / ???? Who give a @#$%?

Good luck!
