Concealed gun in vehicle

I heard on the news last week here in North Texas that you can carry a gun in your truck (even without a CHL) with you as long as it's concealed. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I looked it up the same night I heard it on the news (last Thursday night 10/25/07) and from what I could tell it IS legal. We all know about the older part of the law that said if you were traveling across county lines you could carry. Well I want to know if I can carry it in the truck at all times.

Hey Aggie! Howdidyalike the whoopin from Tech. I know ya loved seein us get bet 2 weeks in a row. Rub it in as you please!

Anywho, I used to carry a Smith 40. It was stolen out of my truck, so I bought an 870 pump with a pistol grip, and no stock. It was only $225 versus the $800 I spent on the Smith 40. The 870 is perfectly legal to carry at all times. I dont think you can legally carry the pistol though, and I would LOVE for someone to show me where I am wrong about the pistol. PLEASE show me. For once, I would like to be wrong.

It seems that some police departments may decide to ignore the new law and arrest you anyways. Do you feel lucky?

Nearly immediately, though, prosecutors and police began to say they wouldn't enforce the new law, or, rather, would continue to enforce the old one. Harris County DA Chuck Rosenthal led the charge, announcing instructions to officers to continue to make arrests for UCW (unlawfully carrying a weapon) just like they always had.
I know, I gave away the answer anyways.

I carry an 870 pump w/pistol grip and no stock. Its cheaper to replace than the handguns that I own. I live in a pretty nice neighborhood, still get broken into, and dont want my gun on the street. Wish they would have made it a felon to break into vehicle.

Also, with the new gun law...we in Texas can shoot an intruder in our homes without fear of reprisal. God Bless Texas!
