Do we have any Professional Landscappers?

I've been messing around with my buddies landscaping business for a while now but I'm considering doing this full force. He just bought a brand new Ferris zero turn which is amazing to replace his Simplicity zero turn in addition to a walk behind, a push mower, Red Max edger and weed whacker, a nice back pack sprayer and blower. Among all of the other little stuff. I've got a decent size Kubota tractor for the heavy stuff. But I'll probably end up buying another Ferris zero turn in a little bit. However, I'm about to buy another back pack sprayer, edger and weed whacker, what do you guys recommend? I've been looking at a lot of Echo stuff but I'm not sure. Keep in mind it needs to be commercial grade equipment, not Home Lite!

Just seeing if we had any professional landscapers in here that do this for a living and if they had any advice in addition to product advice.

I've used all kinds of power equipment. The ones I like the best (in no particular order) are Husqvarna, Echo and Stihl. The only thing I don't like about my Stihl chainsaw is that I have to go to a Stihl dealer to get anything, even chains. I know I can run down to Lowe's if I need a small part for my Husq, and I think I saw some Echo parts at HD one time.

Did landscaping for 2 summers.

Stihl is the only way to go. Their trimmers are great, although their 4 cycle trimmer will shake the living s#it out of your arm after a few hours of weedwhackin.

I always preffered Stihl and Ex-Mark equipment over others, but there are a lot of good brands out there.

Oh, and if youre looking for a backpack blower, check out the biggest Stihl model...that thing is a powerhouse!

You're going from nice air conditioned hotel desk person in which you can be on aim and f150online all day with a spa next door to look at hot chicks while you work, talk to them on your break, for a back breaking all day job outside in the heat of florida?

What?

IMO stihl is the best. weve cleared acres in georgia with a stihl chainsaw and a bobcat. the chainsaw we have has the nice ati-vibe mounts so your hands dont cramp up. we also had an echo pole saw but it wont start any more.

I've been doing landscaping for a while. If you have any questions I know of a good forum to visit.

If you want a real mower get you a Dixie Chopper Zero turn 62inch and call it a day. I've had the same one since 2000 and love the **** out of it. Never had one single problem.

The Dixies are nice but a little overpriced IMO and I need something smaller. The Ferris that he's got is nice as hell. 10 mph and cuts clean.

We only use John Deere and Stihl equipment. I'd like to get one of those RealTree Dixie Choppers next spring though.

Echo/Husky are great as far as blowers/trimmers go.

I prefer Stihl equipment if you have a dealer nearby.

Talked to a few people and everyone said do not buy the Echo sprayers, go Stihl. As far as the edgers and weed whackers they said pretty much any big name like Echo, Stihl, or RedMax will be good. So I'll probably end up with a Stihl sprayer and Echo edgers and weed whackers. Now I just need to buy a trailer to haul the tractor on since borrowing one isn't much fun. LOL
