I don't dislike Dave, I just despise his actions! IE. drinking and driving! I don't care if everyone in this forum HATES my guts...I am going to be relentless on Dave until he starts taking Taxis. He can drink himself to death. Its sad, but its fine with me. I just don't want his drunk butt driving on the same streets as me and my family.
I met Dave a number of weeks ago...he had been drinking when he showed up to the meet and greet at Kellars...and ordered more beer when he arrived. Thumper thinks he's changed? Again, I must reiterate...Thumps 19! You don't just change who you are in a couple of weeks, you may hide who you are, but you don't change!

cdnance, you're being awful defensive over Daveg99. Are you his closet lover?

Well you tell me. Read your post.

If you wanted to lecture him on this whole thing, why not do it in a private message or email? I don't agree with drinking and driving one bit, I've had a lot of friends die as well as one of my best friend's Dad because of drinking and driving. I'm sure I'll know a lot more that are going to die because of it.
Jwool: I'd love to have a cold one with you!
Man I sure can stir up some crazyness around here even when I am trying to get some serious advice on something important to me. And by the way I wasnt the only one drinking at the kellers meet and driving home. I am pretty sure just about everyone there that was 21 and up had a beer.
I hope that through further conversation on here you guys and gals can get a better idea of the person I really am. I am not a bad guy looking to hurt people. I am actually the exact opposite.

Over 36% percent of all adult pedestrian accidents are alcohol related.
80% of all fatal alcohol related auto crashes occur between 8 pm and 8 am.
36% of all adult pedestrian accidents involve an intoxicated pedestrian.
Every year, 708,000 persons are injured in alcohol related crashes; 74, 000 of those people suffer serious injuries.
About 2,000 people are hurt each day in alcohol related accidents.
Two million alcohol impaired driving collisions occur each year.
Arrest / Characteristics of Alcohol Impaired Drivers
Of every 200 to 2,000 alcohol impaired drivers on the road, only one is arrested. Therefore, the probability of getting caught is slim. Of those who are caught, very few receive a serious penalty.
The average alcohol impaired driver arrested on the highway has a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .20%, double the level for presumed intoxication in most states; that is 14 drinks of 86% proof liquor (or 14 beers) in 4 hours for a 180 lb. man.
Between 7 pm and 3 am on weekends, 10% of all drivers are legally impaired, in some parts of the country. Most Americans drink alcohol. Over 80% admit to driving after drinking.
Relatively few problem drinkers, about 7% of the driving population, account for over 66% of all alcohol related fatal accidents.
When drinkers are at the presumed level of intoxication, the risk of causing an accident is six times greater than for non-drinking drivers.
Wow! Alcohol increases accidents? Oh yeah, changing the radio is not illegal!
How do you suggest we modify an idiots behavior? Condone it?
Yes I did factor them in...it was very relevent!
...and yes she is more more important than someone without kids. Why dont you ask a kid whos mom was killed by a drunk driver.
Thats because you are unintelligent, and are incapable of reasonable thought processing. It is obvious by your replies
I am just trying to buy the world a coke and make it a better place...one dave at a time!

now that you have gotten that out of the way, let me say this. since you think that age is so important, i will tell you a little bit about myself. i am 24 years old, high school educated, some college. at one point in my life i was helping to raise a 4 year old boy. his father did nothing for him and his mother struggled. i have supported myself completely since the age of 18. i have clothed, sheltered, and fed myself as well as someone else's 4 year old son. granted he was not mine, but i loved him just the same.
i may not be as old or as "intelligent" as you, but i have been around the block a time or two.
yeah alcohol is a factor in a lot of automotive ACCIDENTS. An accident is a specific, identifiable, unexpected, unusual and unintented external event which occurs in a particular time and place, without apparent cause but with marked effect. It implies a generally negative probabilistic outcome which may have been avoided or prevented had circumstances leading up to the accident been recognized, and acted upon, prior to its occurrence. so accidents could have been avoided agreed. some drunk does NOT get behind the wheel, accident avoided. you dont take your eyes off the road accident avoided. i am sure that you agree driving is a priviledge correct? not a right? so every time you get behind the wheel of an automobile, you are essentially taking your and the other that you share the road with's lives in your hand. anything and everything that you do has an effect on that vehicle and what may or may not happen. are you more likely to get into an accident after having been drinking? yes, i agree with you on that. am i condoning drinking and driving? no i am not. am i condoning they way you have resorted to insults and belittling of other member in this thread? i am witnessing you superior "intelligence" and wisdom that you are so graciously bestowing upon us? NOT AT ALL!! have i ever been affected directly and indirectly by a drunk driver? yes i have. have i ever lost someone i care about to a drunk driver? yes i have.
most everyone can say that they have been affected by a drunk driver. does this mean that everyone who does it is deserving of such ridicule? i personally dont think so.
i hope this response helps you to understand what i am saying. one other thing, if i am so unintelligent and incapable of reasonable thought process, then why have you wasted you precious time responding to my remarks. if this is your way of trying to better the world then i fear of what this world is coming to.

HAHAH this thread cracks me up...Ive read it from the beginning and never said anything but i have to jump in. i will have to agree with thump and everyone else who says to lay off of dave. This was the wrong thread to start a dave bashing conversation in. Take it elsewere. This site would go downhill real fast if everyone looking for serious advice got bashed for a mistake they made. Theres a site that i go on everyday having to do with offroad trucks (theres a couple peopel here that frequent the boards) that all they do is bash on people. some of the info is good but otherwise its a bash fest. taket he bashing somewere else and keep this thread clean with good advice.
Dave, good luck with the girl and the kids! Also, this thread is worhtless without pics!!!!!

How did this...
turn into this...

I like you Dave, dont let what some people say affect your decision with her. Do what you feel is right, do what you feel is best.

Actually I have been living a somewhat crazy life the past few years. I am 31 and I have been living like I am still in college sometimes. I have been thinking that once I do decide to settle down I would quit all the drinking and partying and become much more responsible. I think I can handle that type of life. I am actually getting tired of being a party animal and looking forward to having a family one day and living a "normal" life. I am not saying I am going to marry this girl and settle down with her any time soon. I mean I barely even know her. From what I can tell she is a very nice girl and she seems like shes a good mom. And this may be a start to a new way of life. We actually had a conversation tonight about this weekend and the kid situation came up. She lives a few hours away from her parents so its hard for her to get someone to watch the boys so she can go out and have a good time. And I totaly understand that and respect that. I asked her what her plans are for the weekend and I think she is going to try and get someone to watch the kids either Friday or Saturday night. I am being very patient with her and her kid situation. We have a few mutual friends (thats how we met) and one of them told her about this pumpkin festival thing this weekend. I think we may go to this and bring the kids along. But the catch is she doesnt want to go with just me and the kids. If a large group of people go she said it would be Ok for the kids to go with us. Our mutual friend has kids also and they can all play together. But she doesnt want to force me on the kids right away. I am thinking shes trying to get to know me better before she introduces me as her boyfriend or whatever. And I agree with her on that. Today she was talking about her ex boyfriend she had and through hearing about her talking bad about him I can tell she wants a family and wants to live together with someone eventually. I am not against that at all but I do want to take things slow. I am definetely not trying to become instant DADDY! I just want to be moms boyfriend for now! There is a big difference. Well thanks for listening and I will keep everyone posted on what comes of this whole situation. Again I appreciate all the advice from the people who gave it. And I will be sure to post some pics of us from this coming weekend.

It did not hurt my feelings. I am sorry if I insulted you earlier, but there are a lot here who like to type a few nasty words and run for cover.I will say that IMO driving is not a privledge, that it is a right...but thats a whole nuther' conversation.

Did you read this when I posted it earlier? I don't understand the logic of someone who sees these kind of numbers, and questions whether I should ridicule Dave for doing so. WTF? I HATE THOSE THAT DRINK AND DRIVE!
Am I a bad person for feeling this way? I think anyone who is .05 BAC, and kills another human while driving a vehicle, should be SHOT on the spot. Thats really gotta **** some of ya off. Does that make me even worse now?
What, that's it?... No more "Flame Wars?" I just popped a fresh bag of popcorn.
Don't let them get you down Dave. Hope you get laid this weekend buddy. You deserve it for having to put up with all the bashing.
