Maybe it's a clue that our trucks don't break like Toyotas.

big deal, it's only one report. That's the same thing we say here when someone knocks Ford. So I guess now that CR will knock Toyota, there will be a CR bangwagon starting soon.

I am just amazed at how fast we are to talk about or bash Toyota or any other company here.

Honestly, is it jelously?

Yeah, must be jealousy....
We eat, breath, and bleed Ford blue. We are so into our trucks here that we sign on to a computer just to give our significant other's ears a rest and to talk about our rides or show pics of our mods.

When you are that into Ford and your vehicle, why wouldnt you take a few shots at the import competition when their reputation for reliabilty is faltering?

Who cares if someone knocks Ford. I like mine

Don't get me wrong Les, I love my truck too, but I don't get on this forum to try and prove mine is better by bashing the others.

All I'm saying is it seems like we spend alot of time trying to knock everyone else and not improving our own.

More likely it is people hearing how Toyota can do nothing wrong. If they have a recall, they are just looking after their customer, whereas any other company is look how bad they make their product.
For CR to admit that they gave Toyota or any company good ratings without have any input is insane. The magazine after all is "CONSUMER Reports".

Great post! Im tired of Toyota being talked about like the second coming...
Its a vehicle and has problems as all others do, now it looks as if they are having just as many problems.

Randall
I will rag on Toyota till my last breath, and I can promise you its not from jealousy. Unlike most who bash them I have had one, it was an absolute total piece.

If I wanted a small truck, I'd probably look at a Tacoma before I'd look at a Ranger........

I dont have anything against Toyota, in fact I'd rather hear that Ford put out something that could mac all the hemi owners...

I thought it was an interesting read considering Consumer Reports always had imports on a pedestal.

Funny thing is, the same guys who dismissed Consumer Reports for being Import lovers and bias are going to start swearing by them if they go against an import?

Also, the two Toyotas they picked as below average (Camry & Tundra), are both built in the US.

BTW - I don't own Toyotas or ever plan to, but I don't hate on something that has succeed on its own. Toyota has a lot of "perceived" quality, but they earned that over the years just as the big 3 have earned "perceived" crappiness. Consumer reports may have brought down Toyota a notch, but they are still ranked number 1 compared all other car/truck builders in quality and reliability. So what does that say for the rest of them?

agreed. I'm sure next year the camry and tundra will be back on most recommended list.

As soon as Toyota sorts out the 1st year Camry 6spd auto transmission, it will be as reliable as any other Toyota. Toyota already corrected the camshaft issue with the Tundra, and its been smooth sailing for the truck ever since.

It's not just their US vehciles, it is the Japan ones too.

Toyota has recalled 470,000 vehicles in Japan.

10/17/07

Although none were exported, the news comes on the heels of Consumer Reports bumping the automaker from its top reliability spot just yesterday. The recall is due to engine, steering and motor problems and covers several models. Toyota is aiming to sell 10.4 million vehicles next year, but it appears that its ambitious goal could come at the cost of reliable automobiles.

It says this....Toyota is slipping, Ford is gaining, GM is a hit or miss, and Ford has consistently better quality than GM. Give Ford two or three more years and they will fill more of those "most reliable" spots occupied by Honda and Toyota...

David Champion, senior director of Consumer Reports' auto test center, said Ford's quality remains below Toyota and Honda, but added the Dearborn automaker is now competing with those brands instead of with the other U.S. manufacturers.

"They're definitely in what we would call the top tier," he said. "They are making serious inroads."

I hope you are right. I love Ford, and do my best to buy domestics. Ford and the other two will need to work hard to catch-up (which they are doing now), but don't expect the imports to sit there and wait.

I got my love of Fords because my grandfather owned a Ford dealership in the Philippines. I won't every buy another make of trucks or SUVs, but it will certainly make me feel better if they are the best at what they do.
