great looking house. Those cutouts are a nice touch. I never seen what the heated floors looked like exposed either, great work.

I believe to get money from the State of Alaska you either have to be a Native of Alaska or have lived there a "x" amount of yrs.

The state has a "Permanent Fund Dividend" that is derived from funds out of the oilfields. The fund is worth tens of billions of dollars, and that money is invested into a variety of funds, and other investments. A portion of the earnings on those investments are paid out to the residents. To qualify you have to live in Alaska for more than one year prior to that years application deadline which is the end of March. If you want to qualify for the 2009 dividend, you would have to move here before the end of March 2008 to my understanding.

The dividends are based off of the previous 5 years earnings, so they are increasing in value now that we are getting out of the big stock hit we took 5-6 years ago. This years dividends are $1650 each, so for my family of 4, that equals $6600.

The natives get the dividend, and a whole lot more... especially the "share holders"

Thanks again for all the compliments on the house. It put a strain on us building it, but we are able to sit back and relax now. Next year I plan to do the back deck, and over the winter I want to finish sheetrocking most of the basement and get the movie theater framed in the rest of the way. Here is what the area looks like (water on the floor due to the rains, we had just got the roof finished).

Very nice house.
I figure they are laser cut...Plasma would leave too much slag and is not as accurate. Water maybe but more than likely laser. That is a really cool idea though Not a bad idea at all and wouldn't be that hard to draw up in AutoCAD.
