My parents had a dog with epilepsy (sp?). The vet kept it under control with Phenobarbital and potassium bromide. He still had seisures on a monthly basis however. The unfortunate thing though was that the daily medication eventually destroyed his liver. Good luck.

Just looked in the kitchen, and my dog is on Phenobarbital also...

Got him all checked out, several tests, and he is 100% normal. They said unless he has them more than once every 3 months, he should be fine. So i'm happy

Personally, I'd get another opinion, unless you're confident in your vet like I am with mine. None of my dogs have ever had seizures. I wouldn't call any seizure, no matter how few times it happens normal.

After 12+ years with my vet, and how much he helped with my last dog, I won't go to anyone else.

yeah I Feel confident in his opinion. He said he sees it all the time, and they only ones he puts on meds are the ones that have it more than once every 3 months, or the ones that have side effects
