It is supposed to be stronger, and was found on the Shelbys as well as Mustangs exported to other markets.

You can measure your bar with an open end wrench. I can't remember the stock size (5/8" or 3/4"?).

Hard to tell about your drop, if any. It seems to sit a little low (looks good) but could just be sacked out springs. Are your rims 14" or 15"? The '65 - '66 do have a little less tire clearance than my '67. I usually ran 225/60/15 all around on 15 x 6 Magnum 500 rims. I could barley fit 235/60/15 into my rear wheel wells, but I don't think those will fit onto a '65.

Depending on how and where you drive, a 3.25 rear gear is a good compromise on a 4 speed car. You might have a 3.00 now (many of the automatics had a performance killing 2.79). Mine had a 3.50 which worked great with the hotter, higher reving motor. It would turn about 3,000 rpm at 65 mph.
I've got the Export braces, they're actually welded and bolted. I was looking into the Monte Carlo bar but was just wondering about clearance. I'll measure the sway bar and post back with my findings.

I've got 15" wheels with 215/60/15s. I think the backspacing is wrong on the wheels. I want to do a wider wheel in the rear as long as a wider tire. I don't see enough miles to be worried about the rotating. What do you think?

I think slightly larger tires in back look pretty good on a vintage Mustang.

For awhile I had 235/60 in back and 215's on front, which looked good.

I've seen articles on which backspace gives the most clearance, but I can't remember what it is. I think lower profile tires on 16" and/or 17" rims are pretty popular with the resto-mod crowd.

In many cases, the Monte Carlo bar can interfere with the distributor cap. Even if it does not hit the cap at rest, when the motor torques in the motor mounts it can make contact. Mallory used to sell a low profile 'crab cap' and rotor for their distributors which would fit under the bar (that's what I had). Shelby also developed a curved bar, which clears the air cleaner on the big block GT500 cars, but it also will curve around the distributor on a small blocks.

Be careful on the back wheels, you are very limited on size back there, especially with th 15s. The tire will be up against the springs.

Those light are not my kind of thing, so a no no from me, but I guess it's something you younger guys like. I hate'em.

The Monte Carlo bar is a must. It ties the top of the body together, eliminates a lot of corner flex. Order it when you order the grill piece.

I'll go grab a picture of my dirty motor compartment. Now don't be upset, it's not the best part of the car. I wish I would of built the car because this chit wouldn't of been overlooked.

I just took some measurements and I think the E-Fan kit Summit sold me isn't going to fit. I called and they already shipped it out. I'm kind of pissed, they said it'll fit but if it doesn't I'm not going to be a happy camper. I did the measurements and there is no way it's going to work. I'd need another 1" of clearance for it to work. I'll end up switching for one of their low profile kits for an extra $50.

Why a no on the lights? Whats wrong with them? I just need brighter lights. These suck at night! . . and the rear lights are pretty dull as well.

Are you talking about the rear lights? The headlights are just brighter, a true white. I was wrong about the braces, they're not one piece but they are welded to the shock towers. I'm almost going to regret to post these pictures but here goes nothing. .

LOL it works, what should I get?

I'm taking the air condition out of it. It doesn't work very good at all anyways. It'd only be able to cool the car off when it is 65 degrees out!

156 hp doesnt sound right at all. My 289 with a edelbrock 4bbl is rated at around 225+ at the engine and you have a 302 with a lot more mods. Heres mine I just finished
