You see boys and girls, the Canadian military doesn't have any airplanes.
28 years as a paratrooper. Now, that's a level of commitment you just don't see in the States!
________
Canadians have a lot of planes... most of them pretty old
I am going to be overhauling the propeller controls on there buffalo's if we get the contract.... VERY old airplane!!

The Buffalo is an old girl but awesome to jump. I really like free-fall out of a Buffer.
We are slowly getting our equipment up to speed, we had a government once that could care less about the military and it didn't put any money into it.
We are getting some J model Hercs soon, I flew in them in England and they were the cat's ***.
I like the Airforce because it gets me into my DZs on time. Remember that all branches of the military are there to support the infanteer whether you are Special Ops, Airborne, Marine or Regular Infantry. We all have the same mission when it all boils down to it...

I worked E model C-130's in the AF... Now I over haul propeller controls for the C-130 and P-3 (bet you never jumped from one of those lol). I don't doubth the J model is a NICE plane, but with the composit props, I think it's capability has dropped significantly. I don't know if it is true, but I heard that the J model isn't even allowed in desert conditions because it is so hard on the props.

You might be interested to know that in the Canadian military, our support trades are serving in various branches. We have Army support personnel on ships and Air bases. We have Air Force and Navy support personnel on Army bases.
I have an Airforce Supply Tech that works in my unit who has never been on an Air base.
The Canadian military is well trained in tasking our personnel. All of our support personnel are trained much like the Marine Corps. They are soldiers first. We have something in our military called a "remuster" where say an Infanteer wants to become a cook or something, we change his trade. Now we have an infantry trained cook, the same goes for the Armoured or Artillery. If we have a cook that wants to go in the Infantry, we train the cook and we have a cook trained Infanteer.
If you run into a Clerk and look down on them, that clerk may have been in the Special Forces and "remustered" into being a clerk and could rip your head off without thinking...
We treat our support personnel like gold...I have had many of my Special Ops guys have enough of living on a pager and change trades (and they were deadly).

Army Strong?
Come PT with us ... then say that. mmmkay
Thanks to those who are serving!
To disagree with most here apparently, i have known many more liberals who served than conservatives. However more conservatives claimed to serve but never did ( W ). Also there is more than one way to support the troops, bringing them home to defend the borders or stopping the genocide in Darfur are a couple.
