Need ideas for 10th wedding anniversary

Hey guys, I don't think the sticky note saying "1 free backrub" is going to cut it this year. I want to do something special for my wife since it is our 10th anniversary on August 10th. She's cooking a meal for us, so dinners are out. She is making a few dishes from Jamaica since that is where we went on our honeymoon. Expensive jewelry is out too, since all of our extra cash has gone into building the house. I met my promise that I gave to her 3 or 4 years ago by telling her I would build her a house and we would be in it by our 10th anniversary, so the understanding is there.

So far I'm thinking of a hot air balloon ride and maybe a romantic comedy like "Introducing Chuck and Larry"

Any ideas from the seasoned pro's here?

Take a trip somewhere. I have yet to meet a woman that doesn't like to travel, even if it's not an expensive vacation. Or see if she wants to go skydiving. Some chicks have a wildside.

I've been thinking about the trip bit, but we just got back from living in Vegas for 2&1/2 years, so we are happy to be home now. I've got a few hundred thousand frequent flier miles built up, and thought about cashing in 160K of them for a couple round trip tickets to New Zealand. That's something I need to plan together with my wife though. I'd like to shower her with a bunch of little surprises throughout the day, so hopefully I can get a few more ideas.

Take her on a cruise. Fall cruises are very reasonably priced, but this late in the game you'd have to go in Sept or Oct. Nonetheless, you can show her the itinerary on your anniversary.

OR

Fly to Bahamas. You can stay in a Bed and Breakfast for a reasonable fee, and it is nice.

Good luck whatever you decide.

When the moment is right tell her thus--

There is something I need to tell you;

Before I met you my life was like a desolate wind swept valley, I knew only emptiness and longing. But the stars shone down on me, like Golden tendrils from God’s fingertips, and the heavens sent you to me. Like a ship sailing on the sea, in the darkest of night, you are the breeze that caresses me and whispers sweet promises of tomorrow. No matter what life holds in store for me, should fate break my stride, no one has been luckier than I.

Oh yeah lay this on her too-

You are beautiful, precious, and perfect as moonlight in a martini.

Well, given that you appear to be fairly handy (You did build you house, after all...) I would suggest a few things.

For starters, are you any good with wood working? Maybe build something truly special for your new home that you share together... possibly a nightside, and maybe some matching picture frames for the room. Go with a common theme, and try to work in your wedding dates etc into the wood working somewhere. That is something that comes from the heart, doesn't cost a whole lot of dough, and you both can enjoy it together for years to come.

You also said that she is going to be making dinner, but that leaves breakfast and lunch open. I would plan a surprise breakfast in bed, or at least breakfast at home for her that she can wake up to already done and ready to enjoy. Put some thought into it and make sure it is something unique that SHE will appreciate and enjoy.

Also, when you give her the presents, take the opportunity to slow things down, look her in her eyes, and tell her how much you love her, how much you've loved the last 10 years with her, and how much you want to spend the next 10, 20, 30, 50 years with her. A short, sweet, from the heart confession of true love will be priceless.

Good luck!

I always like to plan something nice in the evening and drop little clues about it through the day. Sticky notes with her lunch, a letter in her car, etc.
On our 2nd anniversary (a few weeks ago), I made her hunt me down with our GPS (a la geocaching) and I was waiting with our dog at the lake for a nice little picnic.

Just get an 18 pack of Milwaukee's Best Ice! Cheap!

I don't know what to do, but I wish you the best of luck and congrats on being married for 10 years.

I like the breakfast idea. Have her favorite breakfast ready for her when she wakes up. A hot air balloon ride would be fun and maybe a light lunch at your favorite restaurant after that. Then a stop at the zoo or museum on your way home if she likes that sort of thing. Your dinner, of course, and then maybe a movie that she's been wanting to see, either at the theater or at home, whichever she would prefer. Maybe dole out little gifts for each stop along the way. Some soap and perfume items in a small basket with her breakfast tray, a bottle of champagne and a pair of crystal glasses for the balloon ride, a nice pair of earrings or a bracelet (you can get nice jewelry that is not expensive) for the light lunch, a new camera for the zoo/museum tour, some item she's been wanting for the kitchen for the dinner (don't laugh or say "how cheesy" sometimes, if I've been really wanting something for my kitchen, I don't mind getting it as a gift!) and maybe some slippers and a new robe for the movie.

Just a few thoughts. Congrats on your upcoming anniversary and many more happy years to come!

Jesus Christ !!!!!! Anything else ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Women. Bad return on investment if you ask me.

Tell her she's lucky you're still around and leave it at that.

Given enough time, I'm sure I could come up with something more, this was all done in the spur of the moment!!

He asked for ideas, and said he'd
like to shower her with a bunch of little surprises throughout the day, so hopefully I can get a few more ideas.
I simply supplied some ideas for little surprises throughout the day...sheesh, bite my freaking head off

Here's something relativly cheap. A photo album. Start in the front with pics of the two of you at the begining of the relationship. But DON"t fill it and give her the reason for not finishing. Because the rest of your life you will have time to fill it. If your wife is as mushy as mine it will leave her in tears.

Hmm, the little things, huh. How 'bout some transition strips, maybe a pantry door, spice it up with a little trim work. Oh, I got it, how about some tile work around the fireplace, I hear women love that. And the coup de' gra, insulation in the attic. Man, you'll need a crow bar to get her off ya!

I think the hot air balloon ride with Midnight Sun Balloon Tours would be sweet. Try and get Sam to float next to our house, we'll wave at ya, or shoot a roman candle at ya! J/K. The breakfast idea would be cool, maybe arrange to have the girls over at the grandparents if it'd work out. Take her on a road trip, maybe out to Circle Hot Springs, something different. Or head down to Valdez or Seward and do a charter or glacier cruise. The halibut are biting in Valdez, I can vouch for that.
