Money Magazine Best Places To Live 2007

My hometown is #47. Maybe I'll move back. Is your town listed?

It's obvious the judges were Yankees, most likely New Jersey Yankees. How in the heck would they appreciate life in Texas? For that matter, any place in the South.

What's funny, they have Keller listed at number 50, and there are many places around here that I would prefer to Keller.

There's a few Texas towns on there. Don't be jealous.

They have me surrounded, Keller(50), Mansfield(83) and Grapevine(97). I am near Mansfield, actually between Burleson and Mansfield.

#80, South Elgin. That is like 10 miles from me. Kind of funny cause Elgin is considered the "ghetto". But if you like to gamble we got a boat

San Antonio in the top ten big cities! I can't believe Houston and Dallas are # 2 and 3 though.

I can't think of any part of Dallas or Houston that I would want to do more than a short visit. They do have Austin and Fort Worth listed and those are good. But Arlington? Only if you could live on the outskirts and do your shopping, etc. in Mansfield or Fort Worth.

Chaska, MN is only 30 minutes from where I live in Stillwater and it ranked #8.

Some idiot must have ranked these cities because anyone who has lived near the Twin Cities knows that Stillwater is a lot nicer of a place to live then Chaska.

Apple Valley at #28 is a little better pick but still no where near Stillwater.

Vadnais Heights, MN at #36 is a bad choice too.

The real give away these people ranking are morons is the #1 best big city. They put Chicago as the #1 best big city. I've stayed in Chicago for months in a row for work and it would be on my top 10 WORST big cities. The crime is horrible, traffic is worse, and there are poverty areas ALL OVER THE PLACE. The only good thing was there were taxi cabs to take me where ever I wanted to go, whenever I wanted to go.

I'd love to see the selection criteria.

I have been to some of the 'winners'.

But hey, that's the kind of list you get when you give a monkey a dart gun.

Found this:

The magazine looked at 2,876 places with populations between 7,500 and 50,000. The magazine's focus was on smaller communities, with a population of less than 50,000. The magazine said that it looked for the best combination of economic opportunity, good schools, safe streets, things to do and a real sense of community. Ethnic diversity, home prices and property taxes were also a factor, WISC-TV reported.
