If you log the time you leave and count the hours it takes to arrive, then devide by the distance that is your average speed.

Eample if you drive 2 hours at 70 mph and make 140 miles. Stop for gas, bathroom etc and takes 15 mins. at teh gas sattion. Then you are averaging 62.22222 MPH.
Yes I know... We should only have to stop for gas 4 times on the trip out there, maybe 5. Figure each stop takes 15 mins, 1840 miles/75 MPH = 24.53 hours, plus 1.5 hours for fuel/food stops, 26 hours seems reasonable for me. Hello truck stop food!

You won't average 75 due to construction, traffic, and metro areas with reduced speed limits. If you hit a metro area at rush hour your average will go WAY down.

Total Est. Time: 23 hours, 52 minutes
Total Est. Distance: 1562.97 miles
Ft Hood TX to York PA.

only stopped for gas, At that time I then used the restroom and bought supplies, Mountain dew and food.

I only stopped once each way for a few hours after i started hallucinating.
I drove home and then drove back again 10 days later. I made this run 6 times in total. The worst were in my stang, terrible fuel mileage and very loud.

The best was in the bronco pulling the stang loaded with all my possessions. Even though i did break down once and i stunk of exhaust and burnt oil when i got home.
ETS baby!

I moved from San Diego to Groton, CT back in 91. That was right about 3000 miles. I did it in a moving van which had a governor in it that kept me under 60 MPH the whole time.

I think I may have everyone else here beat on road trips

I went from Jacksonville Fl to Park Rapids Minnesota and back. On the way back we went the long way back through Wisconsin and Ohio and the Virginias and the Carolinas.

There was my parents and me and my wife. I don't know the mileage but we put close to 5000 miles on that trip and we didn't even go anywhere while we were in Minnesota. We stayed in Minnesota for 3 days and we were gone for 11 days.

I think it took us about 27 hours driving time to get there and about 1800 miles there

I made it once from Jacksonville to Austin Tx in just under 14 hours which was almost exactly 1000 miles doorstep to doorstep.

In 2005, I took one of our company oilfield trucks on a roadshow, stopping off at various customers there and back.
I drove the Peterbilt from Houston Tx up through Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming and Montana then into Canada going through Calgary and Edmonton ending up in Grand Prairie. Then, drove it all the way back
With a few detours, it was pretty much a 6000 mile roundtrip and it took 3 weeks.

North Idaho to Cordova, Alaska. . .approximately 2660 miles (90 of those miles are the ferry ride). Took us 2 weeks but we were sight seeing and not in a hurry. Driving straight through would have taken us about 3 days.

Dayum!

I think we have a winner... This beat the miles Motor Trend put on a new Lincoln LS, 10,000 miles in 5 (or 10) days. Can you imagine the look on the face of the service department? Brand new car, with 10,000 miles on it, in less than 2 weeks, and- still has the temporary tags on it!

This wasn't MY road trip, but my grandparents have driven from Palm Beach, Florida to Alaska. Twice... It takes them about two months round trip, because they drive their motorhome and stay in places a few days at a time.
