Dude throwing someone on a bonfire is like shaking thier hand compared shooting someone.

At this point, since you posted it then if you have to shoot them it would be called premediated murder. Not self defense. Your going in with intentions to shoot them and not taking every route to avoid it.

Put the guns away, take it out of your truck, lock it safely away.
I carry too, I hope to god I never have to use it. Not becasue I'm worried about using it. Because if I do, that means I feel I am going to die anyway and I hope my life is never in that danger. If it is I will take them with me or if I'm lucky just send them to the other side. They will never see it, if anyone happens to see my gun in my hand, that means they are dead before they have to time to react. Ideally try to keep it hid, they won't even see it.

Rules to stay alive
1. Never pull a weapon that you dont want used on yourself. this includes Bats, pipes, sand hose, pool ball in a tube sock, knife, gun, etc etc.
2. Never pull a weapon that you are not using as you pull it. Never ever threaten to use something. If you pull a knife stick it in thier throat as you pull it out. If you have a bat or pipe try to keep it hid until you reach them, also sprint for them, dont walk, then swing as you pull it.
If you show a weapon, be scared enough to use it.
Thats good advice, better than mine.

It is good advice. I will say that my shotgun is almost always loaded and stuck behind my driver's seat. The main reason for this is that I deliver Chinese food. I know, you guys are thinking "what idiot delivers food in a lifted truck with a V8?" Although the gas mileage is horrible, I do make very good money. Either way, I deliver to some rough areas (most of my delivery area is hispanic people who don't speak a lick of English, and many of whom are here illegally). I once had a few guys attempt to rob me. They knew I was delivering food and had a lot of money on me, and they tried to make me give it to them as I was leaving. Luckily none of them had any weapons, and I just kinda drove away. My truck may only have a 4.6L, but it's still got a little more HP than a few street thugs.
Anyway, I now have a rather large knife that is mounted to my sun visor. That is always there. I recently started putting the shotgun in the back. Trust me when I say that I have been in more than a few situations that could have easily been taken care of with the gun, but I have never pulled it on anybody. It is there simply because I would not exactly be surprised to find myself in the middle of a shootout or some kind of gang war. I know, I need a new job. I do make good money though, so it's tough.

What about when you get out of the truck? You know what they say...

A .22 in the pocket is better than a .45 left at home, or in your case, better than a shotgun left in the truck.

I can't legally carry for another 9 months. Aside from carrying a pocket knife on my person, leaving the weapons in the car is the best I can do.

I hope you don't have any mis-conceptions about this CC thing. Basically you are Not Allowed to fire your weapon unless you can PROVE you were facing Extreme bodily harm (a big guy coming at you to pummel you's Not going to do it). You also need to Prove that you Tried to Escape the situation and even showed Retreat WHILE your were fireing your weapon.

Basically, Even if you're 100% right to use your weapon I'd have an extra 50K laying around to defend your actions in court, as well as the Civil Suit you'll probably face from the Loser's parents or wife.

To be frank, listening to your stories of under age drinking/partying, fighting, and driving around with shotguns in your truck. I'd probably steer clear of a CC permit for at Least another 5 years.... It requires a LOT of responsibility...

Scenario, You see some guy backing out of a 7/11 Shooting into the front door of the place. Do you pop a cap in him?

1. You're not authorized to Do so. 2. How do you know he's not an undercover cop fleeing through the door shooting at the Bad Guy still in the Building??

If you go through with your permit I hope you pay Very Close attention to the training and encourage you to get even more.

I completely understand how my stories come off. It looks as though I am the type who goes out and gets drunk, starts fights, and just generally causes problems. That's not the case though. When I'm out at a party, I usually drink only in moderation, and I am very careful not to start any problems. Just the fact that I posted this thread should be at least some indication of the kind of person I am. Although I will admit I am rather immature at times, I always think my actions through before I react. This last situation in which I threw the kid off my friend, I had no time to think anything through. I just did what I had to do to keep my friend from being severely hurt. I would have done the same thing if it were my friend who had the upper hand. I did have a shotgun in my truck only a few feet away when this whole thing was going down. But my first reaction wasn't to grab the gun, because I am aware of the consequences of that.

Not in Florida.

That article was written in 2005, but the law was passed shortly after.
