Anyone have any ice cream allergies?

I know that sounds really silly, but I have noticed at times after eating ice cream, it feels like my throat is swelling shut, it's sometimes hard to breathe, and makes me cough.

WTF?

Sounds silly, I know, but I was wondering if there are any others that share this weirdness? It doesn't happen all time, but when it does, I have to take a benadryl (SP?) to make it stop.

I grew up on ice cream (Blue Bell) and never had this problem before. It started about a year ago. Before I bring it up to my Doc, I was gonna see if anyone had anything to share.

I also have the same issue. It isnt all the time but sometimes. Add a stomach ache to that and that is me. Its called being lactose intolerant. I was told it can come on as we age. My doc told me that adults need to limit milk products as we age....I dunno if that helps but good luck to you
BTW I am 51

I thought that at first, but it only happens with ice cream. I can drink milk, cheeses, sour cream, etc....but ice cream - nope, and it doesn't happen all the time.

I'm not saying that it's NOT lactose intolerant, cause that was my first thought too. Well, maybe this is how it starts. Starts off as every once and awhile, and gets worse as one ages. I'll be 34 in November.

Ice cream does have items that are common to allergic reactions, like eggs.

I think you're just a sissy freak and you need to man-up! jk

Good luck with that. I don't care for ice cream so I don't have any issues.

it could be the milk fat content is higher in ice cream....I cant eat ice cream, have coffee cream, or drink milk. I dont care for sour cream, but I can eat cheese all day long...so Im not sure what the deal is, but Im guessing milk fats have a lot to do with it...just a guess

Sounds like allergy to me over lactose intollerance.

If you take benadryl and it helps then it is allergy. A food allergy is when particles of food get into the blood stream and your immune system attacks that food that gets out of the GI tract. This is what causes the symptoms.

Benadryl is made to cut off the immune system so it reduces your symptoms.

Basically what is wrong is that you have a messed up GI tract. With our poor and unhealthy diets these days foods can damage the GI tract along with medicines, drugs, and especially ANTIBIOTICS!

You Can Heal Food Allergys! You need to go out and buy probiotics, L-glutamine, glyconutrients, eat foods that kill yeast and go off all sugar. This should clear it up!
Google LEAKY GUT SYNDROME, this is what you have.
