I dont know - first of all.

BUT...........

I bought something similar for my razor, and it screwed it up...had to replace it. But, that was MY experience. I know PSS-MAG has used something like that before and it has worked for him. He should be on a little later, he'll give you all the details, if someone doesn't beat him to the answer first.

You really know you've hit a pile of buttercups when ringtones become an important topic of discussion - enough to generate a thread.

Reality check --- it's a PHONE, nutcups! ( thanks to RMS8 for that one - priceless)

Cheers
Bubba

If it is a motorola data cable and motorola CD with the actual MPT (Motorola Phone Tools) program. Which I dont think the actual MPT from motorola has alot of ringtones with it but I could be wrong. But if it is the actual MPT disc then you should be fine.

If it is generic cable then you have a risk factor. Then if it doesn't come with MPT then you wil have to research and see if there is a free program that will let you access your phone with out a seam editor. A seam editor is like the registery on your computer, if you dont know exactly what your doing then you will fry your phone. Even if if you do know what your doing then there is still a risk.

I do have a generic data cable that fits motorola phones that I bought off ebay years ago when I first started modding phones. I do not have MPT, The CD alone with MPT cost $50.... The CD tha tcame with my cable was just the windows drivers, no software. I do have 3 or 4 motorola phones, when they were active I could add ringtones wall papers and edit about 1/2 of those with out MPT. The other half I could not find a program that would recognize them, the only program that would work on those would have been MPT.

I would suggest researching here and knowing what you will need first.

Look in both the Motorola sections and the Nextell sections.

I'd pass on that.....

I'm not experinced in Nextel so they may very well have thier own software, but dont think so, but that CD looks cheesy. Definatly not a Nextel authorized CD.

Edited to add:

Not to mention I know thats not an actual copy of motorola phone tools CD he is showing either....

Here is what the real one looks like....

I'ts very very shady and risky IMO.....

Those are CD's he has burnt, and is incliuding them in an auction with a generic Data cable.

i would buy one from the actual manufacturer of your phone.

other than that i wouldnt trust em.

and if you **** up ur phone with generic cables, its technically considered hacking your phone and the phone company aint gonna do **** for ya if you want it fixed.
