It's also an often disgused complaint on photography forums too, it doesnt seem to be anything impaticular it's just a bad motor design and I'm pretty sure they all use the same basic motor.
Like I said the best guess I've heard from anyone dealing with a quanity of them is about 40% she is a canon shooter and dealer so i'm inclined to belive that was being conservative. In any case thats a 60% chance of not getting a bad one.

Speaking of Mac....

I saw a commercial last night about an Apple TV device. Pretty cool. Anything you watch from your Mac, you can watch on your TV.

I found this:

I just bought a Canon printer if that helps you decide to buy a Canon.

I just bought my wife a Fuji A500. It was only $99. For a cheap P&S camera this thing is amazing. Now if you want a real camera check out my sig

Macbook or MacbookPro? Doesn't matter actually, either way both will handle it but you better have at least 2 gig of ram.

Don't waste your money. I may be Apple's biggest advocate on this site, and I may drink a lot of Apple juice, but I'm not addicted.

Apple TV is a good idea, but at the wrong time . . . it's about three years too early.

If the content it could send to your TV were HD with compression that allowed it to display clearly, without artifacts et al. then that might be worth something . . . but it doesn't do that. It displays videos that are seriously highly compressed for iPods and sends them to your HD set.

Two guesses what that looks like - and the first guess doesn't count.

The menus look nice though.

Give technology about three years, when maybe downloading HD movies from the iTunes store gets you some seriously nice looking stuff that displays well on a large screen, and then it might be worth buying. (That means some amazing form of compression or seriously wide bandwidth internet or both . . . and then that can happen).

What it also means is that Netflix goes out of business. Why wait for a DVDs to be mailed when you can have it instantly online and dispaying on your TV in 720P in a matter of seconds.

Apple TV is also going to have to become a dvr of some sort (which it currently is not) . . . Apple could provide a service like Tivo . . . so say goodbye to Tivo . . .

And what else does it mean ? . . . Apple stock will continue to rise (let's see, what did it close at today . . . . 94 and change . . . I sense a split coming soon) . . .

Yup, as it is now, Apple TV is worthless, but soon . . .

In the meantime, drink your Apple™Juice, buy a Black Macbook, and be cool.

PS, Photoshop CS3 which is Intel native is coming!!!!!!!

Oh Happy Day!

(PS Dzervit, nice use of the paintbucket tool and 40%ish opacity layer on that silver truck . . .who knew you had some PS skills!?!?!?!) (Now make it look Black (which PSS thinks can't be done) and I'll be impressed).

One or the other. Right now my toy buying resources are on hold while I wait to see if an E350 (Benz, not econoline van) is in my future. Also, I have my eye on a deeply discounted Pioneer 42" plasma monitor (not TV). Could use one for the bedroom... tee hee. [/quote]

You got the specs on what kind of compression its using or the data rate it transfers at? Hmmmm... I gotta take a look at that bugger... I would have figured it didn't compress the hell out of things.

Hey, then hopefully those Macbook Pro's will compete with the T60p!

If I get some time I'll give the black a whirl... not as fun as painting flowers all over it though. I have some skills, I just keep 'em hidden.

Not even that . . . I knew the vid files you get from iTunes, or anything you rip onto your computer is already crunched to the max. Take those that were done for lookin good on your itty bitty iPod screen . . . then throw them up on your 42" Plasma you're thinking of getting . . . and can you say big pixels flying all over the image?

Then I went to the local Apple store (we have 4 near here (5 if you count TO) and I looked at it to confirm my suspicions . . . and . . .

It looks awful. I'm really surprised they were displaying it so prominately, because, quite frankly, it was an embarassment. The menus of course look great, but any of the vids that came up looked terrible.

Kobi don't care about no numbers . . . what's it look like?

I've got to drive my **** nearly 40 minutes from home to see an Apple store. Bleh. Maybe when the weather warms I'll take a ride out there and see what the fuss is about.

I can't believe they are using that same compression from the iPod for it. What the duece? I'm going to download something in HD onto my X-box and see what it looks like. I thought it was supposed to be solid, and figured the Apple TV thingy would be the same. Download off the 'net, play on TV.

We already have that, it's called Vongo with windows media edition and a wireless media extender you can watch DVD or HD quality movies (if available) on any tv.

I could tweak the charcoal grey and with several layers I could make it look black, another couple hours with the airbrush tool and make it resemble paint.
Be easier to find a black truck and put his wheels on it.

All that box is doing is acting as a wireless router for the most part. It takes the video files in your iTunes on your computer and puts then on your HD set in your living room . . .

it's not creating it's own compression or anything, it's just playing what's on your Mac (or widows machine if equipped with iTunes)

So what's on your computer that it's placing on your screen???? "Videos" crunched for your iPod . . .
