Don't buy anything on ebay from anyone that you aren't in the end willing to lose the money on. There is no guarantee and even paypal doesn't provide 100% protection.

Part of ebay is assuming a possibility of getting taken. If you can't afford to lose the money I wouldn't get involved in the transaction.
