You're comparing apples and oranges. Ford and Toyota both make pick-up trucks.

The difference is the fact that FORD TRUCKS built America- not Toyota. Period.

Well I would definately drive a luxury vehicle if I were the CEO as well. What I was getting at is that he drve a toyota product.

you were trying to claim that it was the same that a Ford CEO drove a toyota product as it was for Toyota to need Ford trucks for their commercial.

My point is that those two circumstances are not comparable because Ford doesn't even make a luxury car in the same segment as the Lexus he drove. On the contrary, Toyota has their new hardcore truck that supposedly can do more and be better at it than a Ford truck...and yet they even have RANGERS there? Hah.

Not communist, only educated.

Ford had little (nothing) to do with "building" America.

Horses maybe, but not Ford. That's a whole different kind of horsepower.

All we can do is speculate on what Ford trucks were doing there. Since the trucks weren't seen in the commercial, but there behind the scenes, it's logical to assume the contractor's drove Fords. I'm sure there were a few Chevy's there too, being in America and all...

Ford does offer high end luxury cars: Jaguar... I don't remember if Ford still owns Range Rover and Aston Martin.

Truth is, when it comes to bang for the buck, in the Luxury segment, Lexus is damn-near impossible to beat. Ford's CEO (Who probably travels in a town car now) was driving about the best all-around vehicle you could buy at the time, for under $100,000.00, the Lexus LS-430, which just happens to be built by Toyota.

There isn't a lincoln or a volvo that I would put in the same segment as the lexus he drove, so no. Quite different vehicles.

Astin Martin? That's an exotic sports car...and carries twice (three times?) the price tag. So no, none of the brands you listed are comparable...

Hersh, have to disagree with part of your statement. I think Ford had a huge impact on the industrialization and the growth of this nation. They were one of the first companies that employed assembly line manufacturing and produced inexpensive vehicles, much more affordable for the working people. This enabled people to become much more mobile and helped the economy expand more rapidly. No biggie, just enjoyed disagreeing with you on something, it's been awhile.

Toyota would like to have Ford because they know even their latest Tundra can't beat a properly equipped Super Duty.

A Jaguar is in the same class as a Lexus. Would I buy a Jag over a Lexus? Nope.

I actually wasn't even trying to compare the two at all. Was just stating that the Toyata guys had fords the the Ford guy had a toyota product. If I was comparing anything, it was the tundra v f150. I wouldn't compare cars to trucks.

Lordy...you were comparing the two SITUATIONS. My point is the SITUATIONS are apples and oranges.

You are correct sir...

When I hear someone say something "built" America, I'm speaking more to the coast-to-coast expansion of America (minus AZ, NM, & OK), the taming of the west, and the establishment of the 48 contiguous states, 45 of which were firmly entrenched by the time the first Ford rolled off the assembly line in 1903. That was horses, stage coaches, barbed wire, and rail roads, and locomotives.

Gotta love trains- I saw an engine just like this at the train museum in "Old" Sacramento, CA.

Hahaha- When someone says they have money "long as train-smoke" that's a lot of money...

when toyota did the "test" and had ford truck there

#1 where did they build the giant seesaw

#2 anyone notice that the driver sure did come close to running off that cliff

you would think toyota could have tested on a closed course track........It is a Phuckin commercial !

camara crews, directors, driver,, who knows what they drive. there was no testing done, a commercial was made. maybe the think was computer generated and the ford truck was used to give it the effect that a real test was taking place and independent people were ther to evaluate the "test"

as for who drives what. i am pretty confident that all the upper level guys have a car provided, cost is not an issue.
dont even pretend to figure these guys out or be in their world. They make in one year what we will never see in a life time. they dont buy cars for the reasons we do and most probably are driven around..its a dumb argument.
A lexus ls430 is a very nice car to most of us, a status symbol or a reward for working hard.... to him it is transportation, plain and simple.

Tundra is not even in the same class as a Superduty. However I am sure when Toyota does make a heavy duty it will dominate too.

Yep... That's true... These guys look down their nose at anything less than a Rolls Royce Phantom.

Like Diddy said, "It might be a Bentley to you, but to me it's a blue car..."

Those guys are living at a much higher financial level than many of us will ever reach, without some help from a Lotto number. Jay-Z just sold his share of Rock-a-Wear for $204,000,000.00, this is on top of an already estimated $30,000,000.00/year salary.

That's top five, Fortune 500, CEO level territory.
