How do you quit?
How do you quit?
I have a part time job with Sears that I only work at 1-day a week... I did it so if I ever got laid off, I'd have a foot in the door in retail, and maybe I could parlay that into a retail management position, and into some decent $$$, hopefully, in short-order. My friend with the 911, that's what he's into- retail management.
I used to enjoy it, but now it's more of a PITA then anything else. It's no real money, but that employee discount is SWEET...
My problem is, I have never quit anything in my life, (since I quit the band my 7th grade year).
I know as soon as I quit, something in my house will break and I'll miss that discount.
What would you do? Would you just quit, or would you hang in there?
You have to consider:
1.) Full time job
2.) Full time student
3.) 2 year old at home
4.) Married
Would you roll the dice and quit, or keep that extra iron in the fire?

never hurts to stick around if youve got time for it. My dad worked at kohls after he got laid off. He was a supervisor. Then he got a real job and he went on LOA (leave of absence) and he pretty much only works big holiday weekends now (he goes on and off of LOA 6 times a year to stay in the payroll system) and he still has year round discount
If you would like more time with your family, then there is no way it is worth it. Quality time with your son right now will pay off for a life time. However, if you don't really enjoy the family time, then it may be that you need the job as an excuse for time away. I can't see the extra income and the discount being worth your time.

Yep, when I was working 3-4 days a week there, I was the top salesman for 7 months in a row.

Probably the only reason they tolerated me dropping down to 1 day a week. When I decided to focus on getting my MBA.

That's a pretty good question Hersh.
Family always comes first....IMO.
Will bailing on the part timer at Sears give you more time with the family? That's the main reason I dont have a second job. I like to beat up on the kiddos in the living room floor. Wresling the kids is great.
I know your not hurting for the money, so why not take some online classes or something to get a "push" towards some type of retail management degree or cert? (As you can tell I know nothing about retail management).
With a cert or dgree and your work background now, you should vbe able to get a higher up position, and that could possibly help you make a choice on this matter.
I dunno to be honest. I am personally looking for a career change, but haven't found what I want to do (**** Star is out of the question....damn wife).
***Anyone know of an online quiz I could take to help me see what field (or career) that will fit my personality?

His Dad (5'9", 150 lbs) gets a lot of teasing about that when we all (daycare parents) hang out together.
But wrestling/fighting with my son, he'll get a solid punch, kick or head but in every now and then. That head but is a killer. And, don't saw "Ow" because he'll erupt in laughter... He gets a kick out of hurting you. (I will have him in shoulder pads very soon; he's got the aggression- might as well use it).
That little joker is strong, and fearless. Just this past weekend, we took him to a birthday party, and at 2 years old, and maybe 36 - 40" tall, he jumped on a 12 year old.
He has fun, and he is a tough little joker. Back when he was like, maybe 16 - 18 months, I had my dumbbells under the table. He only weighed maybe 25 lbs at the time, and he picked up both of the 10 lb. dumbbells, one in each hand... I hope he can still have kids...
He's not packing on much weight- he's probably only 30 - 35 lbs now; but he is very strong.

But, getting back to quitting a job- though...
