Where else do you work? I say keep it if it is your only job, but if you have another job and are tired of working at Sears, just tell them the truth - it just doesn't interest you anymore. If you have even the slightest thoughts that you might want to keep the job, just keep it until you are thoroughly disgusted with it.

LOL, sounds like a plan...

If my refrigerator, washer & dryer, weren't 11 years old, (And, if I didn't know how much of a mark-up those SOB's had on them ) I'd have quit a long time ago. But man, if I get that front loader set, even with the storage drawers underneath, I can take that set home, washer & dryer for about $1,100 bucks, as opposed to $2,200.00...

I won't make $1,100 working there this year, but- the potential savings could be huge.

I'm already at the "Can't Stand it" point...

I guess, next bonus I'd better go ahead and snag my Whirlpool, black, side-by-side fridge.
($650 -vs- $900)

In the end though, you guys are right, mathematically, it's not worth my time...

I've just never quit anything before, and I'm a cheap bastard.

X's 2 I'd be interested as well, I almost turned in my 2 weeks today, debated on that or walking out the door and never looking back. Like Hersh I've never quit anything... ever. To me "Quiting" is worse than failure. I'd rather try my hardest and fail than say "I give up, I can't.....". Well I rarely if ever say "I can't" I even hate to hear some one say it. Ussually I instantly lose respect for them.

I have another friend who's the General MGR at a Wal-Mart. He doesn't even want to get promoted (Because that would mean moving to Bentonville, Ark., or into a different region).

As a store MGR, his base salary is about $80,000. But, if the store is hittign sales targets (And the parking lot is always full at any Wal-Mart Ive ever been to) he can net another $100,000.00 in bonuses.

If I were yanking down $180,000.00/year, I'd feel pretty good about that.

I don't even know what my best friend is making- I know they started him at $130,000 5 years ago as a regional VP. Now he's a Sr. VP, so it's no telling... We don't really talk about it...

But, when you consider he's the sole bread winner, his house is over $2,000,000, the cars he's rolling, and everything else- he's got to be making $300,000 (Plus bonuses)- easy... How else can one swing a $14,000.00/month mortgage? You gotta be banking to pull that off.

When I met him 10 years ago, he was making a paltry $87,000 (By comparison) as a Distrit MGR for Wal-Mart (Which was a HELL of a lot more money than I was making)... I learned 10 years ago, don't assume, just because a joker tells you they work for Wal-Mart, that they are living pay check to pay check...

Depending on what they do for Wal-Mart, you could be sadly mistaken in that assumption.

That is why retail management interests me...

This is the very reason I don't have a second job, it is not worth my time. While I was in college I sold appliances at Lowes, the best day I ever had I averaged $25+/hr. Most of the time it was more like $13-$15. At the time it was descent money, but now not so much. When I quit Lowes, the HR lady wanted me to get a job at the Little Rock store because I was soooo good at whoring appliances. I politely declined, the average pay was only half of what I would be making where I am now. If i wanted/needed extra money I could make money at twice the rate and not have the hassle of juggling two job schedules and the inherent conflicts.

PS Hersh, nice fridge choice. Whirlpool makes a top shelf fridge, but with your discount why not go ahead and step up to a Kitchen Aid?

Truthfully (And I know this is gonna sound crazy) aside from the stainless steel models, I haven't seen many Kitchenaid's that really caught my eye. And, you would think with Kitchenaid being the "upgrade" from Whirlpool, that they'd have everything the Whirlpool had, plus... I've seen far nicer Whirlpools- as far as features in content, as Kitchenaid.

Honestly, under $2,000 I think it's hard to beat LG in refrigerators- but, when you go over $2,000, Whirlpool Gold and Kitchenaid are the heavyweights- followed by GE Monogram. To beat them, you'll have to go Sub-Zero or Viking... Albeit at substantial $,$$$.$$.

I had a customer come in, and she wanted a 74" wide GE Monogram. I looked it up for her, Cha-ching: $7,400.00. She said, "I'll be back." Never saw her again...

7 G's is big coinage to keep your orange juice cold...

Yeah, but I can ***** the hell out of some refrigerators...

***Anyone know of an online quiz I could take to help me see what field (or career) that will fit my personality?

I found one.

You would be very happy in a career that utilised your level-headedness, and allowed you to work mainly on your own. You want a career that allows you to be creative, without having to be involved with lots of people. Some careers that would be perfect for you are:

You like working and being alone. You like to avoid attention at all costs. You tend to keep to yourself, and not interact much with the people around you. You enjoy spending time with a few a close friends. You like to listen to others, but don't like sharing much about yourself. You are very quiet and private.

You are very practical, and only act after thinking things through. You don't like being forced to answer quickly. You have to evaluate the situation completely. You make decisions based on what you can verify with your senses.

You like to be deeply involved in one or two special projects. You like to be behind the scenes. You are very logical and fair. You feel you should be honest with others and protect their feelings.

You trust your gut instincts. You are easily inspired and trust that inspiration. You are very innovative. You analyse things by looking at the big picture. You are concerned about how what you do affects others. You worry about your actions and the future. You tend to use a lot of metaphors and are very descriptive and colourful in your choice of language.

You are very creative, and get bored easily if you don't get to express yourself. You like to learn new things. You don?t like the same old routine. You like to leave your options open.

You would be very happy in a career that utilised your level-headedness, and allowed you to work mainly on your own. You want a career that allows you to stimulate your senses and your mind, without having to be involved with lots of people. Some careers that would be perfect for you are:

You trust what is certain. (Mostly, but I do have faith as well)
You only like new ideas if they can be practically applied to the situation. (Who doesn't?)
You value what is real. (What the hell kinda statement is that?)
You use your common sense. (Duh....)
You like to utilise the skills you have instead of learning new ones. (Yep, that's why I'm in college. )
You are very specific and detailed when writing or talking to others. (Can I get a witness?)
You follow directions well. (Yes, for the most part)
You like things to be laid out for you to do instead of working them out for yourself. (Would be nice sometimes, but I'm usually the one tasked with planning?)
You like decisions to be made. (See above)
You don't like things to be left in limbo. (See above)
You like to know what you are getting into before you commit to something. (Duh...)

You enjoy completing projects. (Yes, but damn- more keep coming!)
It is important for you to achieve and succeed. (Yes.)
Therefore, you believe in working hard and playing later. (No, actually I play first, then work all night.)
You like to set goals and work towards them. (True)

      My options are somewhat limited....

You would be very happy in a career involving animals. Some careers that would be perfect for you are:
      • Goat Herder

You like sleeping under a tree in the middle of the day.
You tend to prefer low stress employment.
You bathe on your own timetable not some societal dictate.
You like a one piece uniform, wideopen at the bottom.
You are an open-toed footwear kind of guy, with no socks.
You had your last haircut in the late Seventies.
      You smell of goat.

I think the whole test is rigged!!

I'll be taking about a $2 hit in pay per hour and getting 10 less hours a week..... but I am maxed at my job among other problems and have seen months wher eI wonly worked 20-30 hours a week. They arent happy with me, I'm not happy with them, it's time we part ways.
I've been grouchy at home the last couple months becasue of work, it's just not fair to the wife and kids for a lousy job.
