Will this airplane fly?
OK, I just read this one on another board, and it's pretty freakin hilarious some of the replies, so I'll try it out here to see if F-150 guys are smarter than motorcycle guys:
In a theoretical world, a runway is a giant treadmill.
As an airplane applies thrust to take off, the treadmill accelerates at the same rate as the plane... will the airplane ever take off?
This oughtta be interesting...
Edit: to clear up any confusion, I'll put it this way, as the plane exerts enough force to move it forward 100kts, and the treadmill moves at 100kts, will it fly (assuming the type of plane can take off at 100 kts)

Hello? Nobody figured this out yet???
Here's a clue: If the airplane is generating enough thrust to move forward at 100kts and the treadmill is going at 100 kts in the opposite direction; then the plane is still moving forward at 100 kts! But the wheels on the landing gear are moving at 200 kts! Why, you ask?
Okay, clue number two: (This one has got to be obvious to somebody out there): How many and what kind of u-joints are in the driveshafts from the jet engines to the landing gear?
Oh, yeah........

Any way, I think we tied on that one.
