Without a doubt..I just made the right decision
My auto insurance has been going up what seems like once every 6 months for the past year and a half. I stopped in to see my agent a few months back and talked to him about it. We go over my policy and he tells me that since I have a good driving record, my credit is good and I've been with them for over 10 years I am getting a really good rate with some discounts applied. He looked into a different policy...which he tells me everyone will be switched over to next year and realizes it's going to be more than I'm paying now. He says he's giving me the best deal I can get right now.
I decide to shop around and found Gieco to be $400 cheaper a year. Not to sure how they are, I talked to a few people who have them and they all seem to like Gieco. Plus anyone who's had a claim said it was done really quick and they were happy with the outcome and payout on the policy. So I decide to make the switch, which I just did on Sunday. Yes, I was able to call and talk to an english speaking woman on sunday evening and get it all taken care of. Quick and easy over the phone. I also had to call back today to make a change to my effective date and that went smooth and took no more than 5 minutes on the phone.
Here's what has me a little pissed, which in turn, made me realize my decision to change was the right thing to do. I'm pretty much a loyal guy and since I've been with my insurance company for over 10 years, I was hesitant about switching. I mean saving $400 a year is great, but it's not the end of the world if I get good customer service and feel like I'm getting a decent deal for my money. So I go to the office today to talk to them about canceling my policy. I ask the girl in the office what I need to do to cancel my policy. At the same time one of the owners walks in the office, looks at me, says Hi and walks back to his desk. The girl then tells me all I have to do is sign a cancellation form and thats it. She gets on the computer, prints it out...tells me sign here and off I go. And thats it I ask?? yup, your all set
WTF...no questions about why am I cancelling, or anything. I wasn't really looking for anything, no special treatment and honestly didn't expect them to come back with a better offer. What I did kind of expect was for them to at least "try". Maybe go over my policy with me and see if they can do anything to get me a better rate. But no. Nothing. The girl nor the owner so much as blinked an eye when I told them I wanted to cancel. Thats what I get after over 10 years with them, close to $40,000 in payments and not 1 friggen claim?? And people wonder why the small companies are closing down all over the place. With service like this,,,they deserve it..
I made the right decision...I'm glad I switched to Gieco!!

Let me guess, Allstate.
I just switched from AIG to Liberty Mutual as they gave me a better deal for the same coverage. I am convinced that you need to switch every couple of years as the prices never go down, only up, especially if you change something such as adding a car or changing address. I have never had an insurance company call and review my policy to get me a better rate for the same coverage because of a goo driving record. It just does not happen.
I need to call AIG at the end of this month to cancel and have no problem doing it.

I have Geico. Left once because we were promised a better deal. No such luck. Back we went. I have plenty of driving offenses on my record and they've always treated me more than fair. Their customer service is super friendly and helpful.
