Question Would you buy a SuperDuty?

If you could afford one, would you really consider an F-250 being in your driveway?

There have been times I wanted to get a black F-350 Crew cab, dually, loaded. Tint the windows jet black, and cruise aroudn Dallas in it. I actually test drove one with the 6.0L PSD, and liked it- but then thought to myself. "What the hell do I need with this big ol' truck?" I couldn't really justify the purchase for myself, other than the statement, "I think it looks cool". With a few other choices I was considering, I got the Expedition instead.

If you opened your mailbox today, and there was a cashier's check from Bill Gates for you, for $49,000, made out to you and your Local Ford Dealer, woudl you get an F-250/350/450- or would you get another F-150, and keep the change?

I'd buy a brand new SD, sell my truck, and keep the rest of the change.

I'd put the $49K down, get an F650, and take up as many spaces at the office as i can... just to give them something new to bitch about...

Wouldn't buy a 250. another 350 or higher maybe, but wouldn't waste time with a 250.

Threadjack: Do F150s Float, that Rambler in your siggy brings back fond memories. And makes me kick myself in the butt again.

I'd read somewhere that a properly equipped F-250 can out tow an F-350 dually (Which made me wonder what the benefit of the F-350 was, over the 250). I'm sure there is a distinction, otherwise there'd be no need for the number diffence.

Is it payload?

Payload. More leaf springs and stuff.

And that more stuff has more weight.
Since the total towing formula deducts the weight of the tow vehicle to determine total amount towed then I could see where a F250 equipped like a F350 would have a slightly higher tow rating.

The F350 and especially the dually excels when you drop the weight of a 5th wheel tongue into the bed.

no...diesel is too expensive around here these days and unless i towed every day, i'd never break even on the upcharge and fuel costs before it was worn out

Cab and chassis past 3 trucks. Plain steel bed and still wish I had more truck. I wouldn't even think of hauling 18 round-bales of hay at once, like I did yesterday, with a single rear wheel truck.

Itwould look sweet and be a nice toy and all, but I think that it would be overkill--I use mine to mainly haul firewood and a trailer with wood. I very rarely have to tow more than a 1+1/2 tons of firewood. On a rare occasion, I towed a trailer with 2 tons.
