Who upgraded (or plans to) to Vista?
Who upgraded (or plans to) to Vista?
Well, the upgrades were normally $99 for Windows 98 up from 95, and for XP over 98. But, Vista is $179 if I read that correctly.
Anybody bought a new PC with Vista today, or the upgrade?
If so, how do you like it, and what are the perceived advantages over XP?

From what Ive seen on TV (its a slow day for me lol) its got more built in security and is supposed to be more user friendly (from microsoft
).
They say it closely resembles Mac's latest operating system.
Alot of people are probably gonna have to buy new PCs to run it though.

I've seen a few demos on it and it looks pretty bad ****. It's something I want to look into. Gotta see if my PC is good enough to put iton. It should be, It was a top of the line Sony Vaio last year.

If I didn't have a RAID 5 failure on one of my servers I'd be installing it

At work, we just recently got everyone upgraded to XP, it costs a fortune and is a slow process, when you have 80 or so computers. So, if IT mentions Vista, I will probaly pull out a gun and shoot one of them. I will keep my home computer compatible with work, so the Excel and Word looks the same and interchanges with no problems.

I'm going to do it for professional curiosity.
I wouldn't recommend anyone run out and put it on unless you want to fiddle with bugs and such.
XP is a solid OS, if you have it, stick with it, no need to spend 100s on what amounts to little more than bells and whistles.
Keep your security patches applied and software updated and save your money for an XCAL or Nintendo Wii or in D's case a PS3 game (I'm sure they'll be out soon or later)
