Who upgraded (or plans to) to Vista?
Another big question, as M$ isn't talking about what current software you may have will work or not with Vista. I do know a couple of mine will not, Ghost 10 and Backup MyPC. As they are already testing SP1 for Vista, I am definitely going to wait. Maybe to SP5.
Well, count me out...
I have a lowly 256 MB Ram, 1.4 Ghz Intel Processor, with Maybe 12 GB out of 40 GB remaining... (Thanks to all my, "ahem" pictures.)
I upgraded my OLD PC to 512 MB Ram about 5 years ago, but it only had a 500 Mhz processor. With the bump from 128 to 512 MB RAM, it was as fast as my "new" PC @ 256 MB RAM, with 1,4 GHz processor speed.
My work Laptop is a little beast though. 1.7 Ghz, 512 MB RAM, 80 GB storage.
I guess I'll be buying that 300 GB external hard drive.

I bought a new laptop at BestBuy yesterday, $499, with Vista pre-installed. So far it is pretty sweet, the one thing I noticed is the security features...it seems that it has more than XP, no complaints so far. The new PC is great especially for 500 bucks!

You can't claim that Linux is more secure than Windows as a base system, in fact I'd argue out of the Box XP SP2 is more secure than your standard linux download.
Most people think that you can download Ubuntu or Fedora, install it and you are secure. Bah...nonsense.
A properly built and secured Windows machine is just as secure as Linux.
Linux received less attacks because it is less popular. Linux allows a ton of customization and allows you to lock it down tight but most installs aren't that well prepared.
Same deal with Macs, they are great machines but not anymore secure when you really look in to it.
Both are good and both are bad.
Research it.
Thanks for typing that out vader, now I don't have to.
I'm undecided what my next laptop will be. Toss up between the T63 and a MacBook Pro.
Will use Vista elsewhere soon enough I'm sure. Toyed with the beta so no real surprises or rush to get it.

Hey, I'll have a PS3 some day, I just refuse to dump 6 hunnerd bucks is all.
Maybe when (or if) the price comes down some, and the game selection is booming, then I will....but for now, I'll have to stick with the Wii (not wee-wee, I dont share that info online).

Now the only thing holding me back is the battery life... and it doesn't appear they make any extended-capacity batteries!

I am comptia a+ certified and im think about getting my a+ networking so i know a little about computers to. In my option the best windows ever was windows 2000 If you want a computer that just works. put if behind a hardware firewall like my linksys router and you are good to go.i just wish they would make quicken for linux it just wont work right running in wine then i would be able to use linux only
If you had half a brain you wouldn't be running your Windows systems with admin privlidges and guess what? it would prompt you for a password as well! It's crazy! Win2K was a good step but still blew nuts for mobile users and was too damn sluggish overall.
A+ certs are about as worthy as the paper they are printed on.
