Yea I figured it would just run through the wireless router like any other internet device.

Again... why no OS no web for the Wii?!!! Do you have to hook the Wii up to a PC to configure it or something?!! Or Your sayin' you need the PC to config the WAP?

EDIT: Wait... you said the router isn't wireless... so then you have a wireless card in your PC that you'll be routing through?! WTF MATE?!

The WiFi USB adapter plugs into a USB port on your box, install the software for it, and you use that to connect your Wii online.

I think your going to need a wireless router.

I know you dont like them but I recomend linksys wrt54G preferably version 4.0 or earlier.

You can't connect to wifi if you dont have wifi

I belive the software is to enable you to configure the WII for your routers gateway.

Now I see what the hell you are talking about: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/sys.../onlineUSB.jsp

That could be the gayest thing I've ever seen. I hate the Wii even more now.

So after more reading it appears the Wii has a built-in wireless card... so WTF didn't you just buy a new wireless router?! They are dirt cheap! Prolly only $20 more than that gay USB adapter!!!

Yes, it can. The reason I went this route is the Wii wont STAY online, just when I want to use it online.

Question for you two monkeys.

Why would I buy a wireless router, when both PC's in my house are wired?

1. Who gives a crap if the Wii is online 24x7?!

2. Because you now have a wireless device, and why in the hell would you want to have to have a PC running in order to use your Wii?!

AND 3. - if you have TWO PC's in the house why aren't you using the OTHER ONE TO GET THE WII ONLINE FOR NOW?!!!

Your wanting a laptop soon arent you?

Kind of defeats the purpose of a laptop if your tied to a router with a wire.....

The WRT has 4port hardwire too... infinite wirless connections....

1)
true

2)
I dont think you understand the situation....I dont want to buy a wireless router JUST FOR THE Wii....The USB adapter will get me online long enough to do what I have to do, then disconnect it when I'm done. When my box DOES work, I usually just leave it up and running 24/7.

3)
PC #1 - Mine...dead
PC #2 - Mother in laws (POS) Her box is so full of crap and runs like two old people bangin in the snow. I'd rather do without then mess with her pos

Yes sir, I do....BUT, I wont be able to get the laptop until income taxes this year, THEN I'll buy a wireless router....for the time being, this was the cheapest/quickest/most convenient route.

My Wii was on 10 minutes out of the box via my WiFi.

I like it being on 24/7 as you get system updates, new Miis drop in for visits, the kids are emailing each other, etc. Plus you get that cool blue glow when you have new downloaded content.

I would have definitley purchased a new wireless router and bypassed the Wifi adapter. You'd be surprised how often someone stops over with a laptop and gets on.

My Tivo is online, Wii, laptops, etc...
